We all know about Chopes and the massive reef passes that only the brave and foolish attempt, however, what about for us weekend warriors that just want to muck around in small surf have a nice holiday and skoff down Hinano's over a week or two. RRD have a great video up at the moment and I was thinking instead of heading to hawaii maybe going there. Also is SUP rental possible or do you need to take your own stuff with you??
my wife and I were there in October/November as well as Bora Bora. Apart from being absolute paradise its a great place to SUP be it flat water or in the surf. Hiring boards isnt easy as the places are limited and not cheap. I would probably recomend taking your own boards cos i will be doing that when i go back.
I live in Tahiti! Where do you want to go suping? In Tahiti or other island? You have to take Commuter to flight to Bora Bora and Air Tahiti accept only board below 9 ft! You can hired sup in Tahiti at Arue for 45aud per day!You have to pick up them at the shop!

Mate that is unreal (I think I might still angle for that 8foot 10 wide point though). Do you need to hire boats to get out to the passes or is there surf close in. As to which islands happy to tell you that I am completely clueless and happy to be guided as to where to go.
Spent a lot of time on Moorea way back when and can say apart from the island being absolutely beautiful I found a nice spot was the little break in the reef straight out from Les Tipaniers on the NW coast. The old Club Med was an easy launch to get out there. Further around was Haapiti but a long paddle out to the reef/break. Worst part of the whole area is the tides. Super strong on the way out and no way can you paddle against it. Also some awesome righst etc on the edges of the two bays when the swell is decent. Cooks Bay and Oponuhu. But cant beat the scenery of being out in the middle of the Pacific and catching waves in probably the best coloured water Ive seen..
