Did you do any market research before deciding your brand name?

It just sounds wrong and deviant.

I enjoy Supping, I'd even go as far as to say I love supping.

But do I love my SUP board?

I love my wife, sometimes I love my children.

Do I love my SUP - that's weird.

A very satisfying end to the festival with a great turn out of spectators to watch Manly's first ever BOP style race despite the weather.

The surf was up to 3 foot for the Suplove for SNOWY MCALISTER FESTIVAL Sup Race on Monday afternoon. Although raining steadily all day competitors in the race finished smiling after 3 laps of the U style course.

Bombs caught off the outside turning bouys by Steve and Stuart entertained the crowd but did not do enough for them to catch the leaders after they both got snowed on in the shore break at the start. Pete showed a clean pair of heals at the start and some very clean racing throughout. Tony although chasing hard was not able to close the gap.

RESULTS

1st - Pete Morgan - Starboard BOP
2nd - Tony Fraussy Ruault - Suplove
3rd - Steve Piper - PSH Hull Paddler
4th - Stuart Murray - Suplove

Such a pity that weather was so horrific. I was wearing mountaineering gear for Tassie and I was still cold. As another bonus, after the stress of the last week I stared coming down with the flu, which often happens to me when I get so run down. Otherwise, I would have given the race a go, but there was not much sense pushing for a secondary infection like pneumonia.

Still, given the conditions and route I was dissapionted I could not get out there. With the surf at such close quarters I might have even kept up with the pace on the Laird.i

Good news is I scored a hot shower after the prezzo. That was so, so good! After taking it easy the flu has also not hit as hard as I expected.

After this years dramas starting with the yacht and I getting smashed up in the once in a ten year storm at Little Manly Cove, I might be mighty tempted to sail way north next year! If I am around I do hope to have a race board by then.

Still, I am stoked at the good vibe at these SUP events. It is a lot like longboarding back in the early 90's before things got too big and commercial. The great thing too about the races is that there is no subjective element due judging. Hopefully the sport is going to evolve into something great and most importantly FUN!
