Regards sean
you can surf anything with a bit of skill and foot placement ,i and many other can surf a 26 or 28 wide 14 or 12 footer ,give it another go .
sorry can't comment on the boards ,
but if it says its made for waves ,it will be easier to surf.... naish 11,2 Quest ,might be worth a look too.
Hi Bundy
The Avanti is a great board for the big man!
I began my SUP career on the Avanti and loved it.
My buddy who is your size, and owns a SUP shop, has the Carbon Avanti and absolutely swears by it.
I rode mine in big hurricane surf and 1' beachies... it surfed really well in everything.
Don't let the width put you off, it turns easily and you will love the stability.
The only thing I didn't like was the weight of the AST.... if you can find one... get the Carbon

Yes, some time ago Gong had surf SUPs for heavyweigths at 37" wide, and having seen a 140kg guy on it, believe me, you will need the width!
And I tried one, and even with my mere 100kg, it was definitively surfable!
Go wide!
The carbon Avanti is out of my price range I'm going to get the starlight what kind of paddle would you recommend I'm using my sons paddle at the moment it's a naish hele adjustable
You can surf anything as Tardy said and going to a board in volume below your weight in kilo's is even possible..but definitely not recommended for you average sup surfer.

If you're 145kgs - anything under 290L is going to be difficult to surf for an intermediate rider in most ocean conditions.
