Here's the results for the distance race (sorry about the format - cut and pasted from FB):
As expected, annabel smashed the women's idled by about 11 mins, but Sondra was only a few seconds off 2nd place after 15km so must have been a great battle going on. Also great effort by Sim coming in 5th in the women's.

Thanks to Doug (surfer56) for sendin the full results through...
Jake took the double, winning the slalom on Sunday too.
Dale 15th in the Slalom and Simone and Sondra, 2nd and 3rd in the women's respectively.
Unfortunately internationals weren't eligible for the overall national champions crown, or there would have been a few overall podium finishes too!
Will try to upload the full results when I'm back at the computer.
Well done to all the Aussies, and sorry if I missed anyone.

Can the Kiwis race in our Nationals? Would be great to get them over as I hear quite a few a keen.
Same could apply in that they could win the event just not become National champion. Would be great for furthering the sport in the southern hemisphere I think.

Isn't the reason Jacko didn't race at last years nationals because he had represented NZ? Or am I completely wrong?

I agree it would be great for everyone to be able to compete and take line honours but just not state/national titles.

The rules for Aussies have always been you must be an Aussie citizen. I know Terrene got her citizenship so she could compete after not being allowed to surf the year before. So if Jacko wanted to race Aussies he would need to become an Aussie citizen and I'm guessing he wouldn't be allowed to race for NZ any more? Trevor Tunnington was also not allowed to compete at Aussies for the same reason and is now in Peru with Jacko representing NZ.

I reckon it would be great if they opened up the racing side of Aussies to international competitors to boost numbers and make it more exciting and competitive (although its pretty damn competitive already), but i know some have concerns that in the bop a top Aussie could be taken out by an international competitor and lose their chance at the title. I think it's just part of racing but I can also see how frustrating it would be if you were the person who got taken out by someone not even vying for the title.

With the surfing probably best to keep it just open to Aussies. Numbers are limited and there's plenty of Aussies who want to compete as it is.

There was some contention here at first also when we heard international paddlers were coming .Once all knew overall national titles would not be forfeited it was fine and the extra competition worked well forcing paddlers to dig that bit deeper due to unknown quantity's , but I have to say young Jake is one smooth paddler showing world class performance all weekend and a great person off the water as well awesome ambassador for the sport as were
other Ozzie's
