Under the pump at work so have only just got to the reports and pics
First up thanks Sean for your marathon effort behind the lens on Sunday. Got me stuffed why you don't have pneumonia too.
Secondly big big thanks to Sup Vic and especially Phill for sticking to their guns and ignoring all the static and white noise over the last few weeks

Note to one and all...I just clowned myself!!
What was proven was that with perseverance and a determination to do the right thing by the punters, an absolutely top notch event can be held despite all of the obstacles thrown up by mother nature and city hall. Phill took us into last weekends event with an almost foolproof plan A,B and C with a handful of permits and surf locations.
And how about the surfing!! this event proved once and for all that given showcase conditions the depth of talent in Vicco is amazing. It occurred to me that we had the reigning Vicco champs in all divisions in attendance and the only one to make the finals was John Takle. Apart from being a top bloke and a bloody funny bugga, he is flat out one of the gutsiest surfers I've seen...he just doesnt know how not to go. Big Harry is another freakshow who has just entered stage left...totally under the radar. Until this years Viccos I'd never seen him..blew my mind then..flipped the top off my head and applied the bamix on Sunday. The guy just dominated, had it totally on a string. I watched him catch and shred a half a dozen cranking lefts in the space of about eight minutes. He just had the whole flick off into the runout, sprint paddle back to the lineup, catch and shred the next one routine down pat. Amazing!!
The other finalists cranked..Chris was his usual energiser bunny self and laid down some of the heaviest snaps of the event. Then came Courtney, Dean and Troy. Court was charging hard as per usual, Troy seems to be improving in leaps and bounds each comp he goes in and was laying down some epic gouges and as for Dean...maaaaaaate! Up until Sunday I thought he was a race board specialist..wrong!! Totally shredded!!
The girls deserve massive respect for some committed charging, for hanging in on what was a fraekin cold, cold day and for giving a bit of a glimmer of an insight as to where this division could end up if it is nurtured.
The barbie the bulls... Leroy on Judging, Seans after comp snacks, Phill the midden Nazi. Mick...you have got to be fraekin kidding...pneumonia!! I could go on and on.
In closing, great choice on the second track of the vid Sean. It was a bloody long way home...every time I blew that paddle out and got pounded half way to Beacon and had to trudge back through the quiksand.
See you at the next one!!
Cheers
