OOCH. It is looking tiny out there. More chance of the independants forming government then getting a head high wave.
We will post the format latter today for Sunday. This may effect your choice of board. Please check the link below to see the surf cam at our location. http://www.coastalwatch.com/camera/cameras_large.aspx?cam=725&state=QLD&camName=Maroochydore
We have a number of comp formats that we can use for comp days. They are:
Expression session Normal comp with heats Team comp BOP Style (most likely option, bring a big board.)
Will confirm latter in the day.
BOP Style: The competition is a combination of paddle race and surf comp. You have to use the same board for both. The paddle race will only be a short one, say river mouth to Boat Shed Resturant and return. You combine your points from the race to those scored in the surf comp to work out the winner. This is just a suggestion and will discus with members before we start.
Look forward to seeing as many as possible tommorow. Membership can be signed up on the day.
$50 Famaily $40 Single Senior $20 Junior (under 17) $10 day membership for non members
BOP Style seems the way to go unless there is a drastic change to conditions. Might do a paddle along the beach instead of towards the boat shed and then a surf comp in what ever presents itself.
8:30am start at Maroochydore river mouth. Be there about 8:15 to get organised.
i would think jusy a social paddle would make sense ... kids can ride on the bow....surf is just not there.
I agree ... I'll be bringing my 7 yr old son with his SUP board so I won't be leaving him behind to surf. Weather should be perfect. Looking forward to the morning.

we have a 12 and 9 yrs boys...would be cool to all meet in a social play and have the kids along hey .......rather than trying to win a prize that just aint there :) could do a nice long paddle and play in the sliders if any
Any of you guys traveling from Noosa to do the row for cancer next saturday? I have an issue, I can't split the car in two... I'll throw some petrol or some beers to compensate Let me know, thanks!
Wow. What a great turn out for the re-launch. About 30 people attended and had fun. It was only small surf but a great day to get things going. There is a lot of interest in the sport and and it has grown so much in the last year.
We started the day with a short sprint race for those who were keen. Well done PT, that is 2 wins in 2 days. We then had an expression session with more SUP's on a bank then I have ever seen.
Finished it off with some water and a BBQ. Top Day.
Thanks to Luke and Jono for bring down some boards for eveyone to play on. With some families only having one board, it assisted in getting everyone out there.
Also Thanks to Luke for putting on the BBQ and finger buns. Greatly appreciated by all.
Our membership has now doubled and the club is going strong. With the variety of groups getting together for a paddle at different times we look like we are in for a cracking summer and some fantastic growth in the sport on the Coast this year.
For those Southerner from the Gold Coast.... you will now have 2 groups to compete against at the Noosa Beach Boys Day on the 4th of September.
For those who missed today we will have our club days on the 2nd Sunday of each month with the info posted here on Seabreeze and also on the club site www.sunshinecoastsup.com. Membership forms can be downloaded from the site and payment can be made at your next club day.
Here are some photos from the day. Sorry but I am no photographer.
