We got some great swell on the Gold Coast on the weekend.Headed out early with the boys on Saturday morning , the bombie was messy at 6 to 8 feet so we cruised around in my boat and found a nice bank . Solid 8 foot with some bigger sets and had a great 3.5 session in some of the best sup waves I have ever surfed.

With the big waves comes the big hidings and getting caught inside , when we got home I measured my 10 foot shapers leggie and it's now 13 feet I'm just glad it didn't snap.

5 of us went out 4 leggies were super stretched and one snapped at the swivel. Surely there is a leg rope out there that can take the pressure.

My mate who's leggie snapped was a 500m swim , luckily a guy on jet ski helped him back out , I been through a dozen leg ropes in the last 12 months I've tried all brands, it's really starting to sh!t me I can't find a good one.

Balin have some super-duper heavy duty leash cord.. They could make you a one-off using it I'm sure.. Ask John Wilson at Balin.

Have you tried creatures outer reef? They stretch a bit but I have not broken one after snapping 5 different brands in a couple of months.

Rob,
I used the creatures 12 ft cord that is about as thick as your little finger and it did not stretch at all. I didn't have a 12 ft board attached to my leg either

I think that it is the best one I have used as all other have stretched like spagetti.

Got it from the Boardroom after returning 3 pieces of spagetti that used to be called legropes.

I also snapped mine (Creatures 8mm) on Sunday at my favourite spot. Unfortunately it was a very long swim in from there as my board was heading straight for the rocks from the outer bank. Fortunately someone rescued it for me and saved it from destruction.

It also broke at the swivel. Anthony from the boardroom has a new one he suggests I try out. Will let you know what I find...

Has anyone had any experience with the OAM leggies?

I've got a brand new OAM 10' big wave model still in packaging on the floor of my car to put on a board which I bought coz I needed a leggie quick for an afterwork surf.

I have an FCS leggie that I have used solid for almost 4 years on SUP. This is right through just starting out and it getting a good test out. It has not stretched and shows no sign of weakness anywhere, not even the velcro.

There old leashes were terrible the new one (intro'd 4 years ago) with the swivel similar to the Creatures is indestructible.

I have them on everything I own. The disclaimer is that I used to get them for free, but that was a long time ago and I still have the same ones I got then.

When it is a decent size I use two leg ropes. It is a little uncomfortable but it beats swimming in.

CREATURES OUTER REEF!!!The only way to go in all conditions Robby. After going through a heap of leggies (especially O&E, there new ones are crap imo) I also rate the OAM leggie (on my mal). Only prob with the outer reef is the stretched leg when over 6ft with a 10'10 Walden.
