Does anyone have any good ideas for storing big boards? If anyone has some pics of how they store there boards I'd be keen to get some ideas. Cheers.

In these photos, you'll see some relatively short boards - 12' or so, but I now have 14' and 15' boards on the same frames.

My hanging roller racks are still working great.. .. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/SUP/My-roller-board-racks/

Instead of the old 11'6" and 11'4" Nalu's I have my 17' and 14' Glides hanging one side and my 14' Jav and 10' Mana hanging the other side.

Having recently purchased a 14' glide, I went for the harken hoist system in my carport for my two boards. Easy to lower them onto the car when it's time for a paddle.

Bought them online from the US at www.mauriprosailing.com/category/Harken-Hoister-Storage-System.html. I bought two and combined with a good exchange rate, the postage wasn't an issue.

Nice Bruce.. btw.. I found that my roller-rack system works with just a couple of tie-down straps.. The board still slides along on them.

I used a bike pulley system that cost $25 online but I've seen it at storage world for $50. Takes a few seconds to lower the board on the car. I'll up a photo later.

I've been designing a system for the new 14' Starboard Surf Race that will lower one end to slide the board in, and then pulley up to sit pretty close to the ceiling. I wanted some feedback on the design, see if anyone can see any potential issue. I plan on padding all the relevant bits, and have rollers built-in. The frame I am going to make from aluminium for weight, and the nose-end is going to be fixed-height, but pivot.

Part of the reason is that there is not much room to do a wall-rack, and my wife's car is pretty much ALWAYS in the way when I need access to the board, so this was the idea. Also the garage roller door is in the way so I cannot easily just slip it into a fixed rack.

Looks like an awesome idea.
My father has a similar system for fishing rods(the pivoting frame bit)
I may even try this myself when I get a second board

You've probably thought of this and I read that you have a garage door, so won't affect you teeps. But for others considering this take into account if you have a tilt door this method won't work.

Ah, yeah, that would be a bit fatal... then again, if you could work out a system to use the motion of the tilt door to feed the board into the cradle you create, that would be pure genius!

I have a roller door, therefore no problem. Thanks SammyJ
