Ive been riding the Starboard 9'8 x 28.5" the last few days.
Has anyone else tried it? What a super loose board!
Super easy to paddle, picks up waves heaps easy and turns on a 5c piece.
Not only does it perform great but it looks the goods.
I gave Kitersi a go on it and grabbed my camera for some pics.
Not sure how much he weighs but he had that board dialed as soon as he jumped on it and looked very comfortable.
Check out the first 3 photos. Its the take off of the same wave. Look at the angle he is first paddling at and then how easy he turned the board to shoot across the wave.
Get out there and get on one. Share the stoke

Greenie, love the stoke.
As Brooko eluded to, I'm getting myself a late Xmas present.

Is that a sport tech?

I currently have a Tufskin 11 2. Is there a difference between the Tufskin and Sport Tech in performance or is it just durability?

Yes that is the Sport Tech.
The Sport Tech is lighter and could possibly mean more performance? Im no pro and wouldnt really know the difference only that the wood finish looks real nice
I also have the 11'2 and went for the Tufskin just so I didnt have to use wax on the nose. I like the nose riding soul of the 11'2 hehehe. Also my kids like to sit on the front when we go for a paddle. But for the shorter SUPs I prefer the Sport Tech because I personally wouldnt be on the nose of these boards just on the tail ripping shish up

Greenie, had a go of your 11 2" that you rave about (Ians) the other day!

I thought it went great for such a big board. I went left and right on it and was really impressed with how well it surfed. It also paddled really well, was easy to turn when catching waves probably the easiest big board to turn when paddeling I have tried yet.

On my backhand it felt nice and drivey and was great for jamming off the bottom and gliding up to hit the lip and dropping back down with the lip and pumping and weaving down the line.

I had a good look at this board back in the carpark and noticed it has the most rocker of any big board I have seen ( I personally love heaps of rocker in my surfboards and subs)and a really nice plan shape.

Over all for a big board I rate this board highly and would reccomend it to anyone, I would have one in my quiver

Have to agree Brooko, I recently got a 9'6" Naish and I've been riding it all the time trying to get used to it. Today was pretty crap lumpy onshore two or three footers and I got off the Naish and onto the Starboard 11'2" and was suddenly having a great time, catching everything and not even thinking about my balance. Did you try going any distance on it? I've noticed this thing recently that if I'm going any distance on the 11'2" if I increase the paddle rate and do shorter paddle strokes it just seems to stay on the "glide" and really gets moving without much effort - maybe it just sits on a flatter section of the rocker at a certain speed. Anyway as you say, fantastic board to have in the quiver.

Hey jonathon , we had super glassy small waves here today. I am experimenting with all different fin configurations in the 9 6", today I was trying some, Adam Robdogs son , who tears the bag big time, fins out of one of his little 5 11" boards. The back fins were smaller than the front , they were pretty small fins, but they worked great, heaps of drive but really loose, great conditions to try stuff out. I didn't paddle a great distance on the 11 2" but think its a fantastic board and would love one as my big cruisey board.

I cant say enough of how sweet the Starboard 11'2 is hey
If you had fun on it the first time Brooko, imagine how dialled you can get on it if you used it more. Finding so many sweet spots. The board picks waves up so easy that I feel like Im cheating. And once on the wave it really can surf well. Not to mention paddling distances is super easy with great glide.
Sometimes its hard to express the stoke of a board but Im glad you tried it for yourself Brooko.
Just try the 9'8 x 28.5" next and I know you will be stoked
