After our little 3 person event last week and some interest since, at the last moment (last night) after confirming it was going to be a s**t day at the beach (again) we informally organised a meeting for 6.30am in The Royal National Park and 8 stoked SUP'pers came along for the ride.

Sorry to those who'd mentioned they'd like to get involved after last weeks post, logistically we couldn't get online in time but it's was very much just some friends rolling along today BUT the upshot is the interest down this way !

So, we're looking at another get together as early as next Sunday and we'll be sure to post some details on Seabreeze for any 'breezers who want to get into it.

Meantime, rather than clogging up the forum with images, we've created a Blog with some info on who we are, what we are about and a place to put our photo's from our get togethers.

Check it out at; http://southernsydneysuppers.wordpress.com/

If anyone wants to get involved either socially or even an image and link to an advertising page, let us know, happy to assist as help breeds help !

Cheers, Chris.

As today's paddle wasn't an organised event, the plan is to hold one each month or if a few want more or just paddle partners, we'll just wing it for when ever but each month allows planning and family commitments to be arranged.

We're looking at holding our next paddle next Sunday 24th January.

I'll confirm it on Monday but the plan we discussed today was Bonny Vale in the Royal National Park (Bundeena) across to Gunnamatta Park (Swimming Pool / Kiosk area) via Darook Park.

As I said, it'll be confirmed Monday but Bonny Vale will be the take off spot, across the Hacking, a stop off at Darook Park (NSW Fisheries) and if any Cronulla dwellers want to join us from there rather than the long haul drive to Bonny Vale, then on to the Swimming Pool / Kiosk / Pavillion at Gunnamatta Park and hopefully a light northerly to push at our backs for the trip back !

Stay tuned.

I have been double booked with family arrangements, so I will have to take a raincheck on this paddle. I would rather be paddling with the crew anyday.

Due to the Australia Day Public Holiday next Tuesday and a lot of people’s desire to extend the weekend and make it a 4 day event, we’ve cancelled next Sunday’s get together as many will be away and not able to participate.

Well get back to you with another date, in all likelyhood Saturday 30th January or Saturday 13th February ’10.

Apologies for those looking forward to it although we believe that if it’s to be done, do it right and half arsed is not acceptable !

See ya’ soon.

http://southernsydneysuppers.wordpress.com/2010/01/22/next-paddle/

Date: Saturday 30th January 2010

Time: 6.30am

Where: Audley in the Royal National Park Loftus thru to Swallow Rock Reserve Grays Point and onto Danger Point in Port Hacking - approximately 8km round trip.

Directions: From Loftus just south of Sutherland, turn into the 'Royal National Park' from the Princes Highway into Sir Bertram Stephens Drive, past the pay station (which will be closed), wind your way down the gully for about 2km and turn left as you approach the weir into a constructed car park area.

Our meeting point is at the top car park so stay to the left past the toilet block and not into the lower car park to your right. Follow the gravel round over a crest for around 200m and it's right in front of you. Look for the SUP's !!

See you there - should be another fun paddle and remember it's a cruise, not a race so if your confidence is not high, there is no pressure other than to enjoy the beautiful surrounds and laugh at ourselves and our luck.

Surfers maybe call them a bunch of wankers
I like to think of us as trail blazers or those who rose above the ignorance.

Last paddle was with a strong southerly and rain to contend with but we kept inside the protected parts and had fun regardless.

The south wind won't be a problem this weekend as we'll just hug the southern shores of the Bay from Bonny Vale to Bundeena etc and have some glass.

I paddled it last Saturday in drizzling rain and to be honest, it was better than the belting sun !

Can't speak for others but I'll be there rain, hail or shine.

my forecast for Saturday is high 20's with the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

I believe we are also leaving from either the fisheries or Burraneer Bay and paddling over to Bonny Vale. We should be in the water by 6.30am giving us plenty of time to get over the Hacking.

The SUP'ers around the southern beaches are a tough crowd to get moving, but hopefully we will have some new faces this Saturday. We are heading into The Shire's Port Hacking from the baths at Lilli Pilli Point at the end of Lilli Pilli Point Road.

Hope to see you there...

Just letting everyone know that there is an informal club starting up called CRONULLA SUP CLUB. The objective is to try and gather together sup surfers on one break, once a week in Cronulla. Meeting time is 7am Saturdays at Elouera and everyone is welcome. Michael from Paddle Trainer will be there, hopefully getting some good photos and video once numbers start to grow. It should be fun. Check out the Facebook Page and become a fan. See you out there!
