Wow! Glen broke his paddle and went in after only 10 or 12 mins. He got the wave of the heat though straight off the starting line! Surprised he pipped Beau. Doggie and Goatman were very close. Conditions were horrible -looked like 25 knot gusts out the back! Jezza was ripping - well done mate that was a tough line up to get through!

ive got a video of the final will get up in the next few days....

i've watched two of these vids and the thing that stands out is the fluidity beau gets out of the c4. i would imagine it's bigger and possibly heavier than the other boards.
it just seems to run smoother and have more carry over momentum and he is just concentrating on his next move. the other guys boards seem more work to control

maybe super lightweight sups need not be so light?

It's actually pretty light, as it is a custom - though I agree with what your saying particularly in the choppy, disjointed stuff at the snowy. One thing that stands out with Beau is the way he attacks every wave like he is free surfing and gets the board quite vertical up the face.

I should add that Dogman also has the same go for broke approach when in heats as his crazy free surfing.

I have learnt heaps with the last 2 weekends of comps - new stuff to concentrate on - damn being old

Lacey, I reckon the biggest factor is Beau's go for it attitude, he just pushs through everything. The wide noses on both boards help with stabilty in the chop and whitewater. The fines were regular size I think.

Watch footage of Jackson on the McT, he pushes hard through all his turns as well.

the reason i asking our thoughts is it takes me back to a riverea 8'11 gerry lopez that i had early in the piece

its wasn't light and i did have it finned up. the nose on the board was say medium shaped. the board would go on for ever - use to pull around some huge sessions and blast through crappy bits. it took a bit to set moves up, but it would do it.

of coarse moved on to customs blah blah blah, but sometimes i used to miss it
