Breakwalls and boat harbours DON'T make the ocean a safer place when the weather turns sh--t. I had to ditch my tinny on the beach in April due to a 50knt S'west front . Unlless the proposed breakwall went all the way to Gabo Island, there was no way I was gonna make it back! Bastion's a safe swimming spot for kids, good diving, SUPing, shortboards and good offshore fishing when CONDITIONS allow.
This is a couple of pics that I took at Bastion Point Malacoota on my way home from the Mambo.. What a shame they're going to stuff up such a great place.
