On a recent trip to Otways we took a detour to Port Campbell and Loch Ard Gorge.

I have dived the gorge many times over the past 25yrs an know the location well.

The currents inside the Gorge are fierce and its full of razor sharp rocks and barnacles so you need to be totally on your game and know your tides.

Kristi took the opportunity to paddle out to get a wave as there was a 4m swell running.




She also got some awesome waves on the points on the way back what an all time 2
days.

Hey David,

Dont be fooled even when it looks calm the gorge is extremely treacherous as the current will pick you up and rip you out to sea in seconds, if you survive you then become a sea rescue or paddle to Port Campbell unlikely.

I have dived that location, Thunder Cave and around the wrecks there many times over 25 years and there is a short window where it is safest to be there. The current at and around the enterance can be rediculous at the wrong times.

Be warned if you paddle or swim in the gorge without serious planning and local knowledge you do it at your own peril as the signs on the cliffs will tell you. .
