Here's a vid of me carveboarding with a old paddle that has a piece of wood attached to it.

Pretty much copying what Blane, Byron and his son are doing in Hawaii.

But without the Kahuna big stick

P.S If your bored by the first 30 seconds don't bother watching the rest..........

Watched the whole thing and it was great. As you progress I can see you really ripping the turns and carves. Believe in the stick and lay them snaps. Please post progress cause would love to see the developement.

Aloha

Pretty good but from here it looks like you need a longer shaft on your... paddle thingy

The motion reminds me heaps of snowboarding. You kept coming off the fall line then having to re-enter it. Try keeping it all smooth in one motion from side to side and powering through the flat sections. If you dont already snowboard you should get up on the snow and practice linking some turns.

Good tunes is that from the HTH new album?

(Disclosure: Have never landboarderd)

Thanks for the comments...

Yer the shaft is about 5 inches to short for me..

Hopefully ill be able to crank bigger turns with a longer paddle.

Yer it's chase that feeling by HTH

I haven't done it in a while i think thats why my flow isn't so good.

Here's one without the paddle that i made last year....

P.S I've never snowboarded, but would love to.

P.P.S I know i'm wearing a pink shirt.. Yes it's almost as gay as DJ's crocs

The pushing-along-with-the-rubber-tipped-pretend-paddle-stick thing looked really sus.

But, having fun carving flowing lines down the street and practicing your paddle handling looks like a good thing to do. It would have to improve your surfing.

Ben,

I think its great practice for paddle position and hand cross over. We are going to get the kids to try it on the wave and see how we go as we dont have a carve board.

thats some good s#!t!!

If you ever tried snowboarding you';d rip!! Those turns are perfect arc and speed, just learn edge control and you'd blow 1/2 the mountain away

yo ben

that board looks sweet for layin down a few speed carves

a mate of mine just built a mini ramp down the road

busted out the old board and through away the rusty bearings and wacked in some new ones and realised that i dont bounce back to my feet as good as i did 20 years ago

so much fun

and we have the westpac helicopter on speed dial stand by now

Yer the wheels are inflatable..

You just deflate them a bit if the hill is steep

Or the opposite if it's only a slight hill.

hi, richo showed a method on a normal skatie where you sort of tic tac, but you drag the front wheels across. get it wrong and you are on your ass, takes a while to learn.its good because you just picture a wave and do carves, off the lips, snaps, cutties with rebounds, backhand and forehand etc.if i feel my surfing is dropping off i jump back on the skateboard for a few days - always works
cheers

They cost about $500, but that was a couple of years ago might of gone down in price by now.
