Hay everyone,
First time posting but looking for a bit of advice.
I've been searching the web to find out what the rules if any on paddling at night around the swan river in perth or anywhere for that matter? Getting into summer it would be nice to paddle and view things at night.
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated cheers

Check the recreational skippers ticket night navigation lights section to figure out what sort of craft you are on, more or less, and therefore which light/lights would be most appropriate to display. I guess find out what the Kayakers do if they go out at night and do similar. Display of appropriate lights seems to be the most important factor imo.

Hi peeps,

You can use the Kayak Deck lights. These are 360 degree all white lights suitable for vessels under 5m. We run moonlight paddles in Perth in summer and in fact have one coming up in 2 weeks time if you are interested. We run them on or near abouts to a full moon. We sell the deck lights or you can get them from Anaconda. $40.

Here is a few pics of previous moonlight paddles before we had the deck lights.

Love those night paddle lights with the suction base !!!! and waterproof to 25 metres .....although not sure what one would be doing that far underwater with your kayak :)

Sometimes I wonder "is there a reasonably strong waterproof led light that I can chuck on the top of my gath helmet so I can surf in the dark?"
