Stand Up Paddling is not just about waves.

We had a fantastic weekend at Rottenest paddled around Thompson Bay and Geordie Bay.

It is amazing how good the view is when paddling over super clear water with coral, fish, stingrays, etc. My wife Sharon had her first paddle on the weekend and didn't want to get off.

I certainly think we will see a lot of SUP's at Rotto this year, both on the flat water and the waves.

Hey Ian is that the Starboard 12'6 you are on?

What kinda waves does it go well in?

Here are some local shots taken of the Starboard 12'6 taken at scarbs! on a small day You can in the shots how the board forms nicely to the wave.





i have surfed the board up at Gnaraloo (just over head to just over waist high)
Unlike alot of other bigger SUP boards this surfs well- really predictable - sets a nice line in the wave due to its foiled rail through the tail.

basically you can always feel how it is going to react to the wave - there are no sudden surprises of the rail slipping out of the face or an edge catching somewhere it shouldnt.A sign of a good shape.

The crew at the photo shoot in maui last April all wanted to ride this board!

The Red Starboard would have to retail at Something like $2700 - we decided that for a relatively small weight difference (and color difference) that the white Sport Tech rrp $2149 and tuff skins rrp $1849 would be a more realistic price point.

As for bringing red back - who know what the future will bring?
