Forgive me if I'm wrong but others have commented on pimping.....

Isn't this advertising ?

Not really a forum topic.

At least he's being transparent about it unlike others who choose to work with shops or ride for brands and post info about only products they sell or make and continually deny any involvement with them.

Give me a blatant pimp to one pretending to be independent any time.

If it's OK for the big brands to do it here it's OK for everyone......

I agree with CMC comments.

I think we are smart enough to work out who's receiving kick backs

and give aussieboats a go to promote his new venture, once it becomes
too much I am sure the forum members will have their say.But give him a go
hell half the forum is full of pimpers which is fine by me.If people don't post what's new or what's happening how else will we be informed.

how many time will the thumb's and pimping issues come up before the Mod's do something about it....its like a broken record.

Simple solution. Remove thumbs and pimping is fine as long as your a finacial site sponser and that its clearly stated under user name/avatar

Pimping is fine by anyone IMO as long as they are honest about their association with the brand. It's just the people that do get free product etc that will not admit it that annoy me.

To restrict product info to site sponsors only further creates a biased situation and as the leading forum will lead people to believe that only the bigger brands made offshore with marketing budgets are valid. That might make selling your used CG's even harder Serg..... Get my point?

It's either a public forum or not, it can not be a public forum where only people who pay for space are allowed to have their product discussed. That falls outside of the definition and I also believe will cause visitor numbers to drop eventually and provide less value for advertisers.

62Mac, you seem to always jump on someone else's bandwagon and rarely have your own opinion to start a topic.....and your very quick to mention McTavish and your 'deal's with them which could be considered blatent cash for comment.

CMC, if your suggesting that I receive any kickbacks, for the record I do not and am not affiliated with any surf shop, product or the like. I ride Surftech, Naish, Star-board and anything else that takes my fancy.

I find it very funny that others receive harsh comments from you readily but when it suits you these topic's are OK....no consistency at all.

But, that's typical of forum authors who never actually add anything of substance (video's / photo's) or topic's other than negativity.

Laceys Lane PM'd me a while back to ask my kudos and I clarified that I had no interest in any product at that time for which he'll confirm.....just be consistent guys and I'll remind you of this topic next time yo payout others.

plenty of public forums work and work well using the system I have described....basicly if you are a manufacture or retailer you make money from the advertising, this includes schools demo days etc. Anyone advertising in the Buy and Sell section has to pay $14 per add with a picture......to say the site would retsrict product info to those paying is rediculous....there will still be board reviews fin opinions leggys paddles etc etc and how many manufactures are on here???? most closest to that are distributors and more so shops that sell more than one brand. So brand bias isnt going to be a case of Naish or surtech controlling the info released here....

As far as people pimping brands they ride for, thats hard to stop but not much different to most talking up the brands they like even though they arent sponsered or getting deals....

Ie Casso likes his SA's and is sponsered by them so will have good things to say about them....I like my Chriss Garrett's and have good things to say about them but have no kickbacks or get looked after.....so whats the difference its just opinion.

of the many forums Im on this would have to be the worst for cheerleading, blatant pimping and people deleting posts that havent been recieved well.....Not to far from being a one way street stuck on repeat....get my point?

i think i asked you online from memory. the term punter in one of your posts prompted me to ask you.

i asked because i had heard you had something to do with a big shop to be honest, but if you say it's not so. that will do me

Yep, I'll pimp a little for my friends if I genuinely like their product. You might notice that I do add a disclaimer at the bottom of my posts. I have worked in the surfing industry for a long time, I have a lot of friends that do also. I have never hidden it. I know a lot of retailers in Sydney also.

Perhaps you should take another look at my posts to check if I have never added a photo or video to the forum. No I do not add GoPro's or pics of my own life doing ordinary things like paddling in rivers etc, I don't think I am that interesting. Yours are great by the way! Yes I have been critical of others at time, I can't stand people that are not genuine. I think you'll find that a consistent path of my criticism.

Thanks for brightening up my rainy, windy, brown watered, busted nose morning by the way....

A. This forum needed some spice cause it's damn boring as of late.
B. It's not important but Lacey, it was a PM. I will forward it to you.
C. Sunny here and I've already had one of my boring paddles in the river cause it's onshore down the beach.
D. I only GoPro the 'boring' sessions as my GoPro isn't so co-operative in overhead surf on a 'surfboard' which I use primarily in the surf...as I've said before SUP's largely have no place in a surf zone / line-up. If theirs surf, go surfing. If their's no surf, go SUP'n.
E. Lots of positive feedback on the vid's and images so for those I'll continue but I'm pleased you've noted them.
F. That's funny, my friends in the Sydney scene don't know you.....but if you know them, they'll tell you I'm a Building Surveyor who surfs / sups and not in need to share my passion with making money.
G. Sun's still out so I might get back out in our clean water.....thanks for playing....it's all fun my friend.

Sups in the surf?? Are you for real Dan? Curly Lagoon is the go mate - it's fully sic after heavy rain! You must be one of those Sydney 'comp heads' I have heard about!
