Well... the moons have aligned and a shortboard SUP has been created

I thought that the Starboard 9'8 was the bees knees until I tried the 9'0.
It paddled and surfed just like the 9'8 except twice as loose and twice as easy to throw around on the wave. It was stable and flew over oncoming white water.
The first session was out at Metts with more of a fat rolling wave. Even though most blokes out there were on their 9 foot plus longboards, I was still able to get onto the waves easier than they could... obviously, having a paddle does have its advantages

Once on the wave, I could have just thrown the paddle away, as it really felt fast and controlled super easy from rail to rail.
Cutbacks were tight, with the ability to draw them out. Once the wave fattened out I was still able to stay with it for the reform on the inside closeout.
Nice off the top turns.
This board is true to the name "stand up paddle surfing"

The second session was out at a right hander (backhand for me). This wave has a sucky takeoff, followed by a fast section, then fattens out just before the closeout shorebreak.
The Starboard 9'0 really brought out the surfer in me. Using the speed generated from the takeoff, passing the fast section, out onto the shoulder to engaged the rail super hard and back into the foam. Pulls really nice roundhouse carves.
This board is a ripper... and by ripper I mean RIPPER! Because thats what you will be doing on this board.

It weighs 9kg's and is about 135 litres. I weigh just under 70kg's and my feet were dry. But a heavier person would also find this board floaty. Its 30" wide and super stable. Go on, get on it! You know you want to

More sessions on this board still to come... once this wind has gone... and hopefully some photos.
