Whatever Rosscoe!

I'm sooo bummed but the misses was happy.
I'm there next time for sure but we won't get conditions like that again until next
summer I bet. Damn it!

Good work Brenno,
those pics show how it was on both the east and west coast today Windy I reckon,
the light winds are great for the open beaches, further east was fun too,
cheers.

I watched Windy take off on the 2nd wave of a decent sized set(but not the biggest for sure) and it was easy double overhead. Wayyyy too big for me, I gotta know my limits. Deceptive from the top of the cliffs for sure. I suited up, hit the beach and then pulled the pin. We headed further around the coast, where as it turned out was just as big and I still got hammered. Windy and Oliver, great work guys.

Yep, good to know when to leave your gun in its holster. And especially sensible and admirable to pull the pin in those circumstances after driving all that way.

The tide came in and it just got better and better - I think Windy got the wave of the day. A freak bomb - which he went left on it. I heard the hollering and when he came back I heard him say "Where's DJ when you need him" Had probably my best ever session today. I've got one pic to share of dawn as I was coming into Portsea - oh the serenity. Great morning Windy.

I had a leash plug fail today, I wouldn't have thought the fail would ever happen there. The steel pin got displaced and it bent causing my legrope to disconnect at that point. If I can be bothered I'll post a photo - it just seemed an odd point of fail.

As I have two other leash plugs installed, to carry my board I simply re-attached my legrope to the rear one which is quite close to where I stand. It seemed to work much better like that and I'll probably keep it in that place from now on. After I was hit over and over with the shore break today my board was usually much easier to recover - it was the right way up and seemed much closer to me. Usually it's upside down, first I have to find my legrope, give it a couple of very hard tugs - as it's moving towards me upside down and against the grain, turn it over and hope I get on it before the next hit.

This accident made me question why is it that the leash plugs are set at the tail of the board. Maybe they would work better if they were placed closer to where you stand on the board.

Any physicists, hobbyists, backyard mechanics have any ideas on this?

Oliver I have had the pin pull out of the plug before. To reuse the plug put a string loop in it that you attach the lease to it and then fill the plug with resin. Easier than replacing the plug.

Wrap your leggie around your board and think of a cheese wire and some of your favorite swiss....the big peice of webbing at the end of your leggie is called a rail saver for a reason...a wrapped up leggie + a bomb set can cause some serious damage

I agree.. I've seem plenty of damaged boards from not using a rail saver.
I'll help you fix it Oliver.
