Stoked my new board is going to be 12'. There is no way I am paddling that course twice!!

Good work guys for organising it again, it was a great event last year even if I only paddled
half way then sat on my board chillin while everyone else kept going. I promise I'll complete
it this year. I might even catch some fish along the way!

I'm looking forward to it.. It will be great to be able to use my new Naish 17' Glide.. .. even it if does mean paddling further..

I like the way SHQ do the lucky draw thing for all those who compete.. The first year I won a carbon Naish paddle.. .. Last year I won a Naish hand bag..

A hand bag? Makes you wonder how random the lucky draw really is.

It's only two weeks away now..

Jonathan and I paddled the course the other day and I used my iPhone app to do a GPS map and get all the distance/time info.

Here it is.. We go around the yellow pole 50 meters off the beach and then around another yellow pole up near the sunken Cerberus.. and back.

We paddled it at a steady pace.

Here's an update for those coming to the SHQ Cruise to the Cerberus.

This event will be one lap only.. Starting at the waters edge and finishing where you just jump off your board and run to the finish line with your paddle.

This way it's not about the fastest runner across the very wide beach at Sandy because before you even get on your board to start paddling you could be loosing 15-20 meters and that would be very hard to make up for most people.. and also at the end the last thing you want to do is carry your board up the beach and across the finish line.

This event will be open to all size boards.. All starting together.. and all racing together.

The emphasis is on 'Cruise'.. 'Fun'.. and 'Participation'.

Only the first place winners will get the trophy's.. and there will be a trophy for Open.. Women.. and Children.

All the rest of the prizes will be on a lucky draw basis.. So you can come last and be in the same running to win great prizes as the guy/gal who comes second or third.

We hope most people will treat this as a social paddle and like a 'fun-run' type event.

Paddle with kids.. paddle with pets.. paddle with friends and chat along the way.. It's all about fun.

For some fun means winning or just doing your best time.. and that's fine also.

There are heaps and heaps of great prizes.. You $10 entry fee will go to a good cause like the Life saving club.. and the free BBQ after will be an added bonus.

Also there will be SUP clinics for every one from the beginners to the hard core surfers and racers.

There will also be demo boards to try.. and most of all people to talk to and share the stoke of SUP.

I think this is the longest running SUP event in Melbourne (if not Oz) with this year being the third year of the 'Cruise to the Cerberus'.. See you there.

At this early stage the forecast is looking pretty good.
Very similar to last year, a light head wind on the way there with a building tail wind on the way back.
Hey Session, meet ya half way again? I'll bring the esky!

Luke and Paul have put in heaps of work into the event so lets get down there - it's gonna be huge!
I heard on the grapevine that a special trophy is being made up to present to the winner- without giving too much away, it's going look awesome on someone's mantlepiece!
My money's on Cam 'The Machine' Hosking who's in fantastic form. Apologies to Lummers, Dave the Fireman, DJ and Mark B!
