SHQ Cruise to the Cerberus

Update:

Possibility for a downwider:
If the wind is over 15 knots and mainly blowing from the South, we will consider running the Cerberus Race as a downwinder. From Ricketts Point (Beaumaris) past the Cerberus to Sandringham breakwater.

The decision will be made in the early morning depending on conditions. Sign -up is still at the SHQ Kiosk at the bottom of Jetty Rd.

If we go ahead with the downwinder we will organise a car shuffle and use our Van to help transport gear up to Rickets Point. Should be lot’s of fun !

Late notice considering I'm still out at a birthday party. Either way I'll be there with BELLS ON!
Time to call a taxi.

I'm suprised the wind is still strong from the SW. Will be interesting to see if it goes SE by sun rise
or at least the event start time.

How did it all go, I was planning on coming but I thought it would be called off as it was blowing 30knots East where I was at Inverloch at 11:00am.

Hey DJ it was a great day.

Big thanks to Jonanthon who allowed us to try out all of his toys including the 14ft Pene, 12'6 Starboard Pin and 12'6 Starboard Cruiser. The Pene was my fav for the day its lightening fast in the flat and a serious weapon. I offered to load it onto my car twice to save Jonathon the trouble of storing it. He did loan me his 12'6 Starboard Cruiser.

The Naish Mana 10ft soft top was a real surprise. I have to say it was fast to paddle in the flat, it kick turns on a dime and I have to say it was really impresive as a beginers / family board. I believe it would surf pretty well too. Great value at 999 IMO.

The Cabrina 11'6 was also a really nice board, it has higher performance rails and a lot of V in the tail I believe it would surf really well.

A fun day was had by all.

No race at all today Oliver. The weather looked quite ominous and the only safe call was to cancel. Typically, the day turned out much nicer within an hour or so of the cancellation, but by then we were down on the marina test driving every board that SHQ (and Jonathan) had to offer.

Did anyone attempt a downwinder later in the arvo?

Conditions look almost perfect in those 3 pics. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, looking at all those amped up paddlers maybe you should have just done it.

Well yeah conditions were perfect around midday, but this is what we faced at 9am...
