Biggest SUP event in Victoria:
SHQ Cruise to the Cerberus, now rescheduled for the 7th of March

Due to the very unfortunate weather we had to cancel "The Cruise to the Cerberus" paddle last February. In full contrast to the forecast the wind turned out to be 15 knots dead onshore with lots of rain. We still had 50+ of the most hardcore supper's turning up ready to go for a paddle but we felt that most would have stayed in bed, so it was decided to reschedule the race to the 7th of March.

The conditions we where facing before we cancelled the race (nice "pic" from PTWoody)

Announcement that the Cerberus race is posponed to the 7th of March

SUP intro Clinic By DJ

Wave Clinic from Keahi

Some participants stayed for a demo paddle

Thanks to all the participants who got up early and made the drive to Sandringham. We did get the coffee machine and the BBQ fired up and we managed to run the clinics for those who where interested to hang around. There was also the opportunity to demo some of the new SUP boards. So hopefully we will see you all back on the 7th of March.

New date:

When: Sunday 7 March
Where: Sandringham Beach end of Jetty Rd
Start: 10 am sharp (sign up from 9am at shq Cafe)
Course: Sandringham Breakwater to Cerberus and back (6km)
Entry Fee: $10 (incl free BBQ)

This is foremost a social SUP Event, all levels of sup'ers are warmly welcome, from first timers to long distance race professionals. There will be over 20 demo boards available with SUP Intro, Wave and Race- Clinics by some of the most well know Sup'ers in Australia. Last year we had already 40+ participants, let see if we can get 80 this year !

There will be trophies for : Mens, Women's and Youth divisions.

Team Race

Join the fun Team Relay Sprint Race after the Cerberus event. Teams will be put together randomly, so you could end up paddling in the same team as Lumley, Cam or DJ. Lot's of fun !

SUP Intro Clinic:

Dave (DJ) Peterson will run a SUP Intro Clinic after the race. So if you are new to SUP and would like to get some great tips from Mr SUP himself make sure not to miss this !

SUP Intro to Waves Clinic:

One of the top guys in the waves (tbc) together with Brendan Nachtigal from SUP Vic will run a short clinic on how to start out in the waves, make sure you get ready to paddle out in the line-up by getting tips from some of the best in Australia.

Demo:

Try the latest shapes and paddles from Naish, PSH, GSI, Oxbow, Cabrinha, JP-Australia, Kialoa and Quickblades. We will have over 20 demo boards available.

Free BBQ + Drinks
Hang out for the free BBQ and prize ceremony afterwards. And make sure you catch up with breezers and other like minded SUP enthusiasts.

It's all about the honor and the highly contested perpetual trophie's, no prize money here.

However:
A brand new Cabrinha SUP (first production board in Australia) is going in the lucky draw at the end of the SUP series, all you have to do is turn up for all 3 events !

SHQ Cruise to the Cerberus posponed ! (again)

Once again the weather is not cooperating for our Cerberus event. The next 4 day forecast looks like we will get some of the worst conditions for SUP we have seen all year. Especially with the chance of thunderstorms we can't risk to run the Event.

However our next scheduled date is March 28, so let's hope we will finally get some good conditions. 3rd time lucky !

Cheers,

The Crew from SHQ

The wind direction is crazy on the Seabreeze weather chart later in the day. Looks like a little bit of everything.
