Supported by SUPWA - The Rod Fry Memorial Race is conducted by Swan Canoe Club and will have a SUP section for the first time. It will also have divsions for women:
Open 12'6-14'
O/40 12'6 - 14'
O/50 12'6 - 14'

The Male division is only Open. (ignore the age groups after SUPs, this relates to the kayaks)

It is a 5.5km race, great event to get into SUP racing - easy course and sheltered.

Gee Stimo, will you and the joker be able to get past "Smokin Joe Fry" on a Starboard word on the street (or should I say on the river) is he's got it all over you?

5.5 km is about the right distance for my long distance racing prowess. I'd take it easy in the first few Ks then back off and cruise to the finish. Oh ,no but I can't enter I'll be in the Telo Islands, bummer! Just when a race I could probably manage comes along.

Forgot to mention Joe's added motivation of performing at his peak in a race that bares his name. Look out Stimo.

Don't forget to get your entries in for this. Ladies with the multiple divisions you are a good chance of taking home a prize and 5km is a good distance to test yourself without going crazy. Guys it should be an all out sprint with the open class.

At this stage the weather is looking ok as the run down should be nice and protected.

Should be a fun race, great conditions. I'm not racing unfortunately, but will be there at the start. I know big Joe Fry is signed up and looking out for Stimo. A few ladies have signed up, as there are age divisions for this one - great event for your first SUP race - easy course and fun people.
Thanks to Stand Up Surf Shop for supporting it and Swan Canoe Club for inviting us.

I'm not going to be able to make it due to work commitments but I find it interesting that there is age divisions for the women and not for men, seems strange to me.

Hope enough women get involved to justify the divisions, come on girls get behind it.

Hi Tightlines
We have so many events on our SUP calendar this year and we have always had Male age divisions and never female as the numbers weren't up yet. This is a short little event and we were hoping to encourage a few more ladies down. Kinda wanted to make this stand out.

We thought to discourage some of the faster guys by simplifying the age category and the nature of the race - the online booking system got it wrong anyway so there is open, O/40 and O/50 for the men anyway - we just have to find more prizes now.

Great day today with the SUPs being the class with the most paddlers and nothing but positivity from the canoe/kyakers.

Marcus powering to another win.

Jacko close behind, reaching for it.

Gordon "This is not how they do it in Bali" McKercher

Thomas getting back to form after snapping his leg in December at The King of The Cut

Derek on the hunt

Darryl looking like he is out for a Sunday cruise

Anne "I'm still dry and in the lead" Lockwood

Jac Mcara looking as solid as ever on her custom 12'6

David Slater putting on a smile for the camera

Di Mcphail all matching in blue
