Looking to remove the clear 3M Rail Tape on my 2015 Naish Mana GS as it's getting a little worn-looking with a few nicks & scrapes here & there. Would I be right in thinking the best way to remove it would be by gentle heating and peel off? Any suggestions welcomed.

Plan is to replace with Railsaver Pro, but also want to make sure I get off any adhesive residue before putting the RS Pro on. I do have an orange-oil 'goo remover' that seems to work well for removing adhesives on glass but not sure how it would do on a SUP? Anyone have any experience with that?

Probably cleverer to put RS pro on in the first instance? ........stuck some on my sunova speed when i got it and it has been well behaved

The turps won't strip the paint/finish from the board? The GS is the matt-finish rather than gloss like the GT. Would that matter?

it doesn't seem strip my gut when I drink it straight ..

also vinegar is another...if going natural .

remember wash off .with soapy water.....oil...resin...

Turps or WD40 will do the trick, peel off old rail saver apply ( spray on ) turps or WD, use a plastic scraper ie: old credit card etc to scrape off

If it's really 3M tape (aka helicopter tape), it should just pull up, no problem and no residue. If paint or decals come off, it's the fault of the board and not the tape. You could use a hair dryer, but it shouldn't be needed. Just pull slowly and s-t-r-e-t-c-h it as you pull it off.

Thanks all - I'll give it a burl just peeling off and see if it works, or heat it a bit if needed. If it leaves residue I'll try the turps etc.

Not overly worried about the 3M tape (pretty sure it's genuine as I think I recall the backing having 3M on it) pulling off graphics as the RS Pro will be the black stuff I think (racing stripes, anything ne? )

Seem to remember Towball mocked me for spending mega bucks on rs pro. Not quite sure what if any tape he used......but am happy with it myself

think the rs pro would also be removing the graphics if you took it off........but might come off a bit easier

p.s. Forget the RS Pro and just tape your paddle.

It's not just paddle strikes I have it on for - I often carry up & down stairs and the tape on the board has saved a couple of whacks from the edges of the steps being too bad. Added to which, in crowded concrete/asphalt car parks, it can be handy to be able to lean the board on its rail if needed and the tape makes it less of an issue
