Not sure about the two hours racing RPS!.. phew... but its looks like a nice day weatherwise coming up and with a little bit of wind so thats good to be in keeping with the rest of the races but it will be a good way end to the Vic Sup Season.

Here's an idea for future races....
Say for example the race is 10km long around a 1km course = 10 laps.
When the first paddler finishes 10 laps everyone else finishes on whatever lap they are on.....except PT, he has to do 20 laps to make sure he works up a sweat.
Most strong paddlers would do the 10 laps....others may do fewer laps.
If an intermediate paddler achieved 7 laps, next time they could aim for 8 or 9.
I'm sure it is not an inovative idea....but if it is I'll claim it!!

I'm with MJ.....I deffinately fit that criteria!!
Get the party island setup with an filled esky on it and the 1hr paddlers can sit out on the water and offer encouragement to the 2hr guys (& girls) for the second half of their race.

Bring whatever you've got for this race.

There's an up to 12'6 board length class, so you won't be competing against people on 14 or 17' boards as there in a separate class,

conditions looking great for Sunday morning and a farewell to the warmer weather,
better make the most of it.

Great event 40+ paddlers on a beautiful day and the kids and the girls keep rocking up, it was well worth the trip up from the coast.

To all who paddled it was a great effort in those windy conditions.

The thing I loved about the vibe was so many individual races within the main race with mates hitting the end of the time saying got you this time, followed by but next year I'll have your number.

Wished we could have stayed on but I sadly had to work

Bit of a shame this ends the series but makes you look forward to next season I guess.

Results from Race 5.

Well, what a long season it's been.
We've finally drawn the 2011/12, RPS/Starboard to a close.
The Rd 5 race was, as usual, windy but at least this time it was hot and sunny.
A slight twist to the last race saw the people with plenty of racing under their belt, fighting it out in a 2 hr race, whilst the 1hr was more a social race.
Even though many paddlers were still away for the school holidays, the last race still attracted 40 competitors, many whom were racing for the very first time. There was also an excellent showing from the junior division as well.
The clockwise course included 3 turns and a downwind leg to the bottom mark [which gave the paddlers a slight reprieve].
Cam Hosking had the bit between his teeth from the very start and was never really headed. Meanwhile, there were some interesting battles within battles. Rupert and Jarrod were only ever separated by no more than 50 meters whilst PT had to be vigilante with an ever-improving “Lightning” and the consistent Hock not far behind him. In the women's division, Jean was looking good on the Starboard 14 and Emma chased her hard all race, despite being on a 12'6”.
The post-race presentation saw the division winners receive beautifully hand-crafted trophies . The overall results were based on the 3 best results from the 5 round series.
For the third year running, the major prize went to the most-improved for the series. This year the Starboard Stand-up went to Tom McQueen. Tom is only 19 and has improved rapidly. He's come from paddling borrowed boards in his first races to gaining consistent top 8 placings.
The presentation also included the winners of the inaugural Victorian Flatwater Series. The trophies were, like the winners, a stand-out. PT went to great lengths to ensure the trophies had an action-hero photo of each recipient embedded in the actual trophy!
A big thanks to Starboard for getting on board for the third year straight and also to the HMB SLSC for the use of their facilities on race days.
