Fluked it this morning and I was supposed to ride, not stroke, but when the alarm went off at 5.30am, I checked the wind and it was 3 kts, n/ne.
No brainer, went to meet up with the the crew at Dead Man's at a tick after 6 and
bugger me if they were already out and half a km up the road!
Anyway, it turned out to be one of those perfect windless, glassy, warm mornings.
Alsup and Rob were also out along with a big pack of Life Savers training on their rescue mals. Interestingly enough, when I was paddling flat chat next to very experienced L/S paddler, we were neck and neck, except he was stroking xxx amount of strokes, gliding and then repeating the process. I was paddling non-stop and still just holding him. The glide on the rescue mals is quite amazing!
I know if we hit wind and chop it would be a non-contest. Rescue mal would win hands down.
All round great morning
