Whilst our original intention was to give Jonathon a send off paddle to the Beacon, weather and timing conspired against us.

Figuring it would be advantageous with this continuing balmy weather to complete a Fawkner Beacon return, we're going tomorrow.

Meeting time and location : Green Point, Brighton at 6.30am for a 6.45am start.

DJ expects a 2 - 2 1/2 hr round trip.

Forecast

Forecast for Thursday
Winds: North to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending north to northwesterly
during the morning. Seas: 0.5 to 1 metres.

Come prepared

My physio has ruled me out unfortunately. Went a bit too hard at the SHQ race so theoretically out of the water for a couple of weeks. Would love to be there, maybe next time.

Bummer!

Rest up, hope you return to the water sooner rather than later.

Yeah I'm pacing myself to be cherry ripe for that Venus Beach Sup Vic weekend. Unless of course, a big northerly blows up this long weekend, then I'll be ripping all this tape off my back, and to hell with the physio. [}:)]

Hey Warwick,
After chatting with you at the shop today I checked my diary. I had a feeling that I had something on....I'm meeting with the new CEO at 9:30! So I somehow think that turning up late and saying I had better things to do might not go down so well.

Have a good paddle.

Hey Rosscoe, you should take the CEO to Fawkner. If the meeting goes well on the water, all's well. If he turns out to be a shmuck, leave him to sleep with the fishes.

Yeah, maybe I should suggest we move the meeting to the DJ No. 3 Yellow conferencing centre - he's coming down from Canberra so I can tell him it's centrally located.

Tomorrows paddle to the beacon is now called off.. It's looking like it will be a bit choppy and I want to be able to use the Jav without falling in..

We'll aim for another day next week when we know we're going to get glass.. It's along way to paddle in chop..

I'm going to take my dog for a paddle at 6.30am at Half Moon if anyone wants to join us.

Hey DJ,
good thing we pulled the pin. I was on the road as normal at 5.30 this morning and yes, it was glass, but the northerly was just noticeable.

By 8am [ around what would've been midway paddle], it was gusting 17 knots!

Imagine trying to paddle 7 kms back into that?

I had a fun lunchtime paddle at Torquay Point, and mid way through the wind picked up a little. Caught maybe 15-20 waves, but at least 2 waves that I missed, I was almost standing still paddling into the NW wind gusts. There were some comparative lulls too though....

One of my old high school teachers was out there too. Always good to see him. He was a clean cut guy who was pioneering this coast back in the day.....

Charlie and the pelicans enjoyed a splendid sunrise at Half Moon this morning.

I quite enjoyed it myself.

Should've taken Charlie to Fawkner Beacon. Now that would have been a decent rescue story.
