Most of the so called production boards are hand shaped...overseas
Since march this year DC stopped making any custom boards for the 12'6 or the 14' even if you ask him to. Each model (12'6 Aruda or 14' Makaru) comes in 2 different width
Any comment you hear on a 14' makaru by 30" wide ( the yellow board in the thread below was the 1st prototype of this new shape) is exactly what you would get on any other 14' makaru by 30" if you are trying one since they are all computerized shape from the same file.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Stand-Up-Paddle/Review/That-other-yellow-14fterDC-14-x-30/ Fanatic 14 has tons of volume (320l) but I'm not sure it's the go for 115kg unless your balance is very good (to be fair, I only had a
very short time on one in very ****ty conditions, in the dark on a freezing cold morning before my first coffee). Little mate who rides one says you need to keep a narrow stance.
As Swanie said, don't discount the glide 14, it's surprisingly forgiving and I liked it even with the big nose rocker (and despite feeling like I was riding on the Prince of Persia's shoe). With your weight and a bit of muscle you might be pleasantly surprised what stepping forward will do.
Haven't been on any of the 2011 starboard 14s.
DC 14 x 30 is just fantastic for OFBs (like me). I fall off mine occasionally but that's not the board's fault, I'd surely be in the drink a lot more on any of the others. If you're in WA shipping cost from the Goldie might be high but it's worth giving Dale a call anyway, he's very approachable.
