Had a few paddles on the new 10 6 gun that replaced my 12er.

Lighter, less stable, turns better, still really good glide and very fast on a wave.

Felt really secure on the larger sets I caught but the waves were too small for it to really shine. The board does nice carving turns like the 12er but much less board which is a good thing.

Not an all rounder like the 12er for me at 105kg, for lighter guys it might be.

Felt excellent in the steeper parts of the wave will tube ride really well.

Pixie nose may look strange but really works in late drops, saved me a couple of times.

Ran it as a quad but preferred the larger centre with side bites.

Scorpion tat design for the grip.

Good dedicated big wave board for me

Certainly a challenge in the sea breeze yesterday. Much better than the 12er on the waves though.

13 sleeps for me

Did you sell the 12er?, whats you quiver look like now hilly, or are you to scared to list all the boards?

I am slowly building a quiver up as well and ordered my 2nd board last week, hopefully it arrives this week. Now I am looking at 14' downwinders....

As everyone else said nice looking board Hilly.
That nose is so weird looking, can you give me/us
an explanation behind the turned up nose. You said
it saved you a couple of times, catching at a guess.
How does it work

Interesting point about the nose, I looked at two 9'11's in my local shop the other day and the dealer pointed out how different the noses were i.e. the amount of flick they had. One seemed to kick up to around the 45 deg mark and the other was only about 2/3 of that. They also had different tails, one was a swallow and the other was a diamond.

Is that a bit of damage in the scoop of the nose on your board already Hilly?

So is it a substitute for nose left/rocker.
Just seams to be a very sudden alteration at the last minute so to speak.
With all the design R&D in the surfboard industry over many years,I have never

Yes it is much better than the 12er rocker it can go under and come back up without slowing you down much as it is so narrow. It does not catch which is the key. Spray does come off either side

na, not that radical. i thought the boards were busted first up. i had this urge to try and snap it off and then get a repairer to fix it without the "bent piece". it works and i'm not noticing the look of it much anymore. i have sometimes had issues nose diving on re entries coming back down in the steeps, so any thing that might help is good
cheers

Not sure I am a big fan yet.

I think the extra rocker in a Mano does the same thing, but the Mano pushes more water. The advantage of the pixie nose is you keep the glide for paddling and its narrowness means it catches less.

Thanks Hilly,

Lacey you've seen those pesky groms around town with six inches snapped of their nose, what's the difference as they still rip.

about 2 and half feet mac, just doesn't fit in the bowl part as well. murry burton always said anything over 6'5 and it's not going to fit in that good on most of our waves. most times you just have to turn it again before the bottom. that part sucks for me. i've always seen good surfing as straight up and straight back down and repeat again and again etc and a couple of cutties of course. as a kid i was a massive MR fan for that reason, mr curran too

cheers

Hey guys,
in regards to the turned up nose on the psh boards
ive got a 8/6 wide ripper
it loves sucky drops and critical sections
had it in some good size hollow waves, it turned so hard off the bottom
and never felt like nose diving once , no matter how hard you hit a section
the flater rocker helps catch waves then by turning up the nose it loves hollow waves
must admit at first sight i thought it looked a bit weird !
but now i cant get enough of riding it in all conditions
cheers bournda
