I'm planning on heading to Point Danger this Saturday morning early. If conditions are good for a sup in the surf, I'll surf, otherwise I'll go for a paddle somewhere.
Anyone interested?

Point Danger might be good for a windsurf on Saturday but doesn't look much fun for SUP, if the forecast improves I'm keen.

Just got back from a paddle at Pt Leo. lovely sunny day and not another soul out (just a seal!). Went up towards Flinders quite a way then the easterly sprang up and had a real grind home. Double bummer because it also blew out the nice little waves, but what a magic little spot. Nice to paddle over all the suck rocks at low tide to get a better idea of where they are.

This is the weekend outlook from Swellnet:
'Windy conditions this weekend as a series of fronts cross the region. Only small surf in Torquay due to the swell direction, but it'll be the pick of the state due to the winds. Nothing overly special but surfable if you're keen.'
I'm keen! I'll aim to be at Pt Danger around 8.30 - 9.00. Rich, if you could bring along one of those boards, and a paddle, that would be great! Ryan is keen to have a go on one, maybe the smaller one, whatever suits.

Hi John ,

The wind and swell will be from the West , so best spot on this tide should be mini tube's as it will be more protected from the breeze, we had some great waves last Sunday at Mini Tubes...If the swell hit's the coast and is bigger we should consider Pt Roadknight as it's offshore on westerly!
Ryan ,will bring along the 10' Paddle Surf Hawaii board + Paddle for you.

see you Sat.

Rich

Hi Guy's ,

Keep an eye on the weather , seems the latest report has been down graded from 30knot winds to 15-20 ?? ..... Might be OK !!!

Just spoke to our GSI agent and he has lent me a 7S 9'8" fish and the new 10'6" Kalama for our Sat Session.

Rich, John, Ryan and I turned up at Pt Danger as planned but got skunked with the swell. No DJ today so its my turn to immortalize the session. A further short drive was agreed on and we were greeted by some fun little knee slappers.

Heres Rich's car loaded with goodies, PSH, Naish 10'6", Uber Fish and Kalama 10'6"

Looking down towards where we surfed

Ryan putting the Uber fish through its paces (as much as knee high waves would allow)

John paddling out for more

A sequence of Rich and Ryan.

Ryan turning the big fish

Backlit John paddling hard

Not great waves but sunshine, clear (cold) water and a few laughs.

Thanks for a fun morning guys.

Rev.

Thanks for the great pics Rev. It was a good session, as always it leaves me wanting more and more!
After I left Rev, Ryan and Rich, I headed to the Barwon River mouth, and paddled for an hour, testing my new fishing setup. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead, so no pics, sorry. I set up a milk crate like Oliver's, and it worked a treat. I paddled around the mangroves, trailing a lure behind, and caught two small mullet. Oh well, at least it shows the setup works! Can't wait to do it all again, the surfing and the fishing. BTW, the Uber Fish board was great, thanks for bringing the demo boards Rich. DJ, you missed a good one. Next time.

Sorry I missed it guys, thought I would go in the morning (Sunday) where was the spot you drove to? I'm guessing conditions will be pretty much the same so it might be worth knowing. Thanks

Looks fantastic. Glad you guys had a great day. I worked on my board all day and was pretty happy with the result. Thanks Revin for the commentary and for posting the photos. I'd love to join you guys next time.

Good to hear the fishing setup worked for you JD - can you post a pic of your setup? Trawling is good fun, just when you forget about it you hear the reel squeal, and next thing you're fighting a salmon. I can't wait for snapper season around cup day.

How versatile are the boards? It's so cool that you could be surfing your board in the morning and fishing off it in the arvo. In Summer I'll get a sail and windsurf for lunch.

Jonathan, we went to Pt Roadknight, just past the boatramp. I hope you have a grouse time. Should be even better than today. Please let us know how you go.
Oliver, I didn't take any pics because my camera battery was dead, but next time I get the gear out I'll take some snaps. Yes, it is cool how many different ways we can use the boards - long-distance flat water paddling, surfing, fishing. This summer I'll be snorkelling off mine down the coast as well. I'll just modify the fishing crate setup to hold the snorkelling gear. I even have a very small anchor that I can use to keep the board in one place.

Bummer that we missed it.. ..Helke and I had to be back by midday for work and the forecast was for 20-30 knots and rain..so we met for a paddle at St Kilda.

It was cold and choppy here and very overcast so it's amazing that you got those contitions...Great pictures Revvin..

That's a great shot of Rich and Ryan sharing a wave.

Next time for sure.
