Friend going up, has a rented a house backing on to the water.
He is a bit concerned about stories of bull sharks etc.
Is it a good paddle destination, and are there any real dangers?
Any info appreciated.
Used to be ok with us mostly above and the sharks mostly below the water. Much more dangerous at this time of year though. Turns out the magpies are now working with the sharks to knock paddlers off boards to be finished off by sharks below. A quid pro quo arrangement with both species benefitting. Many underestimate this danger until they see how many gumtrees are around Pittwater.
Nozza, it's one of the best paddle locations in the World! Seriously a great spot. I started the bull shark story to keep the guys who paddle on Narrabeen Lake away. Over the years I've paddled here up to 6 times a week and only seen one shark and it was at the end of the bay going around Lion Island. it wasn't a Bull Shark but rather a Great White. Within Pittwater you're more likely to sustain an injury via an over protective seagull as you paddle past a yacht.
Pittwater has beautiful houses and bays on the Eastern foreshore and National Park and secluded beaches on the Western side. It is one of Sydney's best kept secrets. In a southerly there's a fun down wind run from Bayview to Palm Beach and the paddle to the Basin is absolutely beautiful. You can generally find a secluded spot to paddle no matter what wind direction.
Where abouts is he staying?

You and Nozza could be brothers separated at birth...
