Got an opportunity to go away for one week in June.
Background:
Live in Melbourne - it's going to be a freaking cold winter, need to get some sun.
Question:
Australia or OS?
Rules:
Beach holiday
Indonesia is out (don't ask)
Gold Coast, Byron Bay (been there too many times, not interested)
No more than a six hour transit - fly/drive.
Nice to have:
Be great to get a few waves
Doesn't have to be warm/hot - but sunshine is good.
Uncrowded/not a big tourist destination.
Bring squasha over for a sup holiday
hahaha, I went on a fishing holiday with squasha for a week in gods country earlier this year - fricken best week I've had in a very long time - didn't see another human for 5 days. No whining kids, no nagging wife... Just casting, sunshine, lots of bacon and eggs and bad jokes.
I'd go back in a heartbeat if I wasn't traveling with a female - I don't think I've ever met a female that could cope with a week long fishing trip in remote NW WA.
Hilly, if you can wrangle it, you should try and come along next year. I don't know what the politics of it all is but it's tons of fun if you can make it.
Next year I believe we are going to target Bronze Whalers and have worked out a bit of a system to haul them up the cliffs using stainless steel fishing line, custom strengthened hooks, tripods, toyota landcruisers and smokeys.
