After surfing on the NSW south coast for 40+ years I am now living in NQ. Thought I would go nuts without being able to surf. Got back into windsurfing, but still not the same. Along came SUP which allows me to surf this place regularly. Never gets over waist high, but is a nice little wave. I am the only one here that surfs and I'm sure the locals think I'm crazy.

The set up on full tide. I live behind the trees at the yellow arrow in the background

Starting to line up now

No more photos, time to go surfing

It works when the trade winds build a southerly swell.

Thats the appeal of SUP. It doesn't need to be perfect to have a good session

hey jethro what a great looking place, who cares what the locals think,
they probly thought you were a little strange anyway living in a house
with a 200 foot yellow arrow on it but at least you can paddle straight back to it and not get lost.

Hey DJ
I drive around (takes about 10mins) because when there are waves the wind is blowing from the south and I would be paddling directly into it. Have done a downwinder home a couple of times though.

I suppose there are some nasties in the water. It's the marine stinger season from Dec to May. I wear a stinger suit. Like a steamer but made of lycra. Not very flattering on an old bloke so I wear boardies as well. I don't hang around in the water after I fall off. Get back on the board as fast as possible.

I have paddled the length of the beach and I see stingrays, sandsharks and turtles when the water is clear.
Also, not bad windsurfing off the beach and I can also get the occasional mushy wave to SUP surf on.
