Curiosity got the better of me before xmas, I booked into a Jamie Mitchell lesson, 15 min after the start I was well and truly hooked!

Santa looked after me quite well, I found an 11 foot NSP and a Kia Kaha paddle under the tree

I find the NSP is a good starting point but I can feel a two board quiver will be in order down the track.

The best way of judging the performance of the board is in smiles, the pictures below were taken at my son's 6th birthday, a board cram and him and I on a run in the broad water.

My son's name is Laird, I have had a background in windsurfing and always admired the man liked the name. Laird is also a Scottish in origin like my late Grandfather, meaning wealthy land owner. If he grows up to be a wealthy land owning water man I’ll be one proud dad!

Hey Toeball, Have you tried surfing the beast yet?? I started on the 11 NSP and it doesn't take long before you are wanting a more wave performing board, but I'll never get rid of it. Good allround board. I use it to get my friends hooked on the sport.

We're on the Broadwater just near the end of the rocks at the sea way, no divers injured, the NSP is not the quickest board around especially with the passengers!

I’ve been in the surf about half a dozen times now, a few times at Currumbin, Narrow Neck and The sea side of Sea World on the Spit. I knocked off work early one day and thought the quiet part of the beach between the sand pumping jetty and Southport beach might be an embarrassment free place to goof around getting used to the waves. After about an hour I noticed a distinct lack of female beach users, and the blokes seemed to be on their way somewhere off in the dunes? On closer inspection other men could be seen popping their heads up like Meerkat’s. My quiet practice area turned out to be a man loving meeting area! I’m by no means a homophobic but the idea of my van being parked in an anonymous man loving meeting area with my business name and phone number didn’t leave me feeling too happy.

To answer the question about the NSP in the surf, my birthday is in June or xmas is 11 months away!

I also started on a NSP, great board to get your skills up but it wont be long and you will looking for something that performs better in waves. Good to hear you are hooked and the kids seem to be loving it too!
