No Teatrea, quite the contrary. This new series of boards has been made for open ocean as rough as it gets, although it is quite quick in the flats, (Woogies already claiming it to be the fastest 12'6" that he's paddled) it wont match the original full displacement Penetrator for sheer speed. Although the full displacement hull is the fastest paddling, what we found was in heavy or extremely choppy conditions the paddler was expending too much energy maintaining balance and would tire quickly. The "storm series" is designed to get up and plain as quickly as possible when on a run and will give a more surf oriented feel when doing so. Tully and Woogie will have this board on the Gold Coast this weekend for the Roar event and it will be available to all for a test paddle. I also designed this model with ease of construction in mind to give it a very reasonable price tag.

Hey Stuey

I have paddled Jonathons 14ft pene and found it very fast how ever it was difficult at 105kg to manage in chop.

What max weight range the storm is designed for?
Are you going to do a Big Bruddahs version?

Looks very cool.

What sort of weight is it? It looks light in the last pic.

As the real estate agents say, what enquiry price range is it?

How suitable would it be for surfing (in terms of trim and ride on small surf and straight in on wind blown slop)?

Thanks

Hey Phill,
My last post may have answered one of your questions. All the Penetrators are custom made and Jonathans was made specifically for someone around his size. The board in these pics was made to suit up to about 80 kgs, the only guy other than ourselves to paddle this board weighed in at around the 82kg mark and after 10 minutes ordered one. The flat tail section of this new model makes it way more stable in the rougher conditions and as I said earlier gives it a more surfboard-like feel when on a run.

Thanks Stuey,

from the previous thread it sounded like you were going to more of a production style board not individual customs. Thanks for clearing that up.

Regards

Phill

Great pictures and great looking board.. Thanks Stuey.

Has it been tested in rough DW conditions?.. It looks like a flatwater board.

Hey Gorgo,
We haven't weighed it yet but will do so when I get back to work and give an acurate measurement later on, though my guess is around 11kgs. I think policy on this site prevents me from posting prices although Tully at Laguna Bay Longboards will be more than happy to provide all information. You wouldn't take it out specifically to go surfing but Woogies feeling so far is that it will totally come alive on any size runners, (he's only had one long paddle and surfed boat wakes on it so far)

Looks nice Stuey. I think it should do just nicely in rough conditions by the looks of it. Good luck.

Hey DJ - It doesn't matter what it is (even though you are quite correct) - the Penetrator will still be quicker in rough water

Hey D.J.
It was only finished late yesterday arvy and as yet has not hit the open ocean it was primarily designed for. Woogie took it for a 5km paddle in the river but has a definite feel for these things and is itching to do a downwinder on it as his thoughts are that it was just born to run!
Thanks, Stuey

Great to see you back on the Breeze with a new board Stuey, hope it's a great success for you and Tully. As usual pushing the boundaries and coming up with the new concepts
