After the Near death experience in Japan the other week, decided to get on with buying the new SUP I've been thinking about (life is too short). Lou from Eastcoast set me up with a Coreban Icon Pure, and even dropped it over on a very wet monday. Haven't had a chance to get out until this arvo. Bondi was closing out on the approaching low so took the long trip over the bridge and ended up in Manly.

Managed to stand on it without falling off (I am coming off an 11'6" Southpoint), and paddle out. It is very stable, if a bit more twitchy than the old one. Also turns for waves much easier.

Wobbled around a bit and then managed to get a few nice clean waves in the offshore. The board is way way faster than the Southpoint and much easier to manouvere. Got it set up as thruster. Had a great couple of hours before heading into the traffic home..... feeling like Ivan. Am going down down to my mates place at Gerroa over the weekend and really looking forward to that.

Nice one.

I'm picking up my new fusion pure this w/e.

I demoed a few boards and really liked the fusion - felt quite different to the other boards I tried out and will make a nice new addition to my quiver.

Nice looking board mate.

It's good too see someone else living in the moment. I get grief off the mrs and a fair bit hung on me from my family as well over not saving my $ and spending it all the time, but save it for what? As long as the bills are paid, spend the lot, lifes too short.

The Pure Icon looks vvv nice!

Oliver the Fusion is my board of choice right now, havent had a chance to demo yet. Whats it like on the stability front? Would someone in the 85-90kg range paddle it around ok?
thanks

I'm the same weight and find it stable enough - more stable than some of the other boards that I tried that had slightly larger dimensions. The board somehow packs a lot of volume into it's dimensions.

I found the Fusion to be very loose and fast on a wave - I was just using the standard 2 x 1 fin setup. It seemed to perform quite different to other boards I've tried - that's why it stood out for me.

On take off I found the board appeared to yaw significantly, while doing the power strokes and didn't seem to have as much glide as other boards I've tried. But after a few waves, I just adjusted my take off position and took off a bit later. The payoff was when I got on a wave.

I'd definitely demo it and compare it with some other similar sized boards, and let us know what you think.

Cool thanks Oliver,

Will get a demo in for sure and try some other simliar dimensioned boards as well. The way I see it is it will be perfect for riding beachbreaks which I will be riding 90% of the time.

havent ever ridden a quad before so will give it a go in a while after I've gotten the hang of the board as a thruster. What difference should I expect?
