Ahhh... DJ you had me really excited , but just took a look at specs and price.... The Go-Pro white ($229 Aus) will match it at nearly half the price , plus it comes in behind the ION & Sony for picture quality. Nice tuff camera with amazing 3 hour battery life. Plus you will need to add the Garmin dive housing to match those cameras. So it adds up fast. Base model ($300 US) & ($400 Aus) for the Elite + accessories. You can actually see the cameras short comings in the film clip with dark areas and graining out , if thats their promo clip , expect your shots to be worse.

With the Go-Pro Silvers at ($280 Aus) & Blacks ($390 Aus) for pure filming they eat it , but as an athlete using it as a training tool linking to a GPS and heart rate monitor , I could see serious downwinder and flat water paddlers using this as an valuable training tool. It's a good camera and nothing like on the market. Love the design and features but not for me I'm purely after picture quality.

Yep, I looked no further after seeing the demo footage, this was where GoPro were 3 years ago, now old tech but I guess as Garmin are not a camera company you could expect that. There are other "old tech" action cams our there for under $150 that will give you better images than that.

It will have a market with the Garmin crowd to interact with their other equipment as Rob said, but you need the Elite model for that.

Rob, check out the new M?bius micro action camera, the image quality for size is really good now they have 1080p, it's tiny size and tiny price $70, you may find useful for something, very popular with the QuadCopter crowd. The 1080 30p I rate very close to the HD2 silver and white.
