Yep, I looked no further after seeing the demo footage, this was where GoPro were 3 years ago, now old tech but I guess as Garmin are not a camera company you could expect that. There are other "old tech" action cams our there for under $150 that will give you better images than that.
It will have a market with the Garmin crowd to interact with their other equipment as Rob said, but you need the Elite model for that.
Rob, check out the new M?bius micro action camera, the image quality for size is really good now they have 1080p, it's tiny size and tiny price $70, you may find useful for something, very popular with the QuadCopter crowd. The 1080 30p I rate very close to the HD2 silver and white.
