At a guess :- Less chance of catching weed at the base , the fixed fin takes the impact if you hit a bank and won't bend the shaft on the steering rudder , more hold if you broach , more steering responsive with water flowing off a straight plane to the rudder angle (like the prop wash to a rudder in a boat)

might be more drag though IMHO.
Interesting sterring set up on the deck which part steers it and beautiful finish BTW.
