Just got it, 8'6, bit over 28 wide. Bit like a fish, Dan made it to be fast and loose.

Hanging to ride it, cheers Dan

Yeah Steve's board looked real nice.

I'm busting to get out there, if only the first day of Summer wasn't more like mid Autumn...

Yeah the gloss finish was kind of an unwanted bonus!

I'd felt Steve's when it was new and that wasn't overly heavy by any means, so when Dan asked if I wanted standard glass or super light like his own ones, I said I'd be happy with standard (thinking durabilty).

Board arrived and Dan pointed out they'd given it a gloss finish even though we hadn't asked for one - he said gloss looks great but does add a tiny bit of weight.

Well, the board with grip and fins is still light as, and with the gloss (as you said) it looks the goods.

Update: Rode this on the weekend, only small waves as I opted for a spot protected from these winter southerlies that Sydney's getting atm.

This board is absolutely amazing! Stable, paddles into waves easy, easier to take off due to the short length, the thing is fast and loose as!

Hi Jed,
I've had a Dtm custom for nearly 7 months now and really happy with durability, been surfing it mostly on open beach breaks so gets a decent beating and besides some rail shatters from my often clumsy paddle strokes[ will have to apply railtape from new on the next one] its holding together real well, think we went with the Inegra glass option too,
sounds like your enjoying yours already.

Nice looking board Dan and Steve Peterson was ripping it at Meribula on his DTM Green Machine. Did you buy a 44 gallon drum of green pigment.

Hey Camo - glad your's is holding up well. I haven't had any rail issues though, do you tape the edges of your paddle?

Yeah definately loving mine already, this is actually the 3rd DTM I've been on. Dan made me a 9 footer which I loved, then got to ride his original 8'8 which blew my mind it was so good. Then he creased it in rather heavy surf, so I had to go back to the 9' one. Couldn't deal with it any longer so bit the bullet and ordered a brand newy.

Honestly I have to say riding these little boards really is the way forward, it really does make the whole surfing experience not only more fun, but easier!

its still in great condition considering the waves ive had it in !!!!
its the closest thing ive ridden to the feel you get from riding a short surfboard .
i couldnt reccomend dans boards more highly . i think customs are the future in high performance sups

Yer Jed,have the paddle guard beading on the blade to, but I think its the bottom of the paddle shaft just above the blade that comes into contact in some turns, Dj said he saw a bloke in Merimbula the other week that had made a cover that slides down over this section of the paddle out of wetsuit material or something so might have to look into giving this a try, will have to see if he got pic of it from his 1000 images from the Corona.
