Hey DJ - I was lucky enough to try one of these the other day - It would be a paddle that you would get use to - feels different when you first start paddling from any thing else I have paddled with. As I am a KIA KAHA Paddle person I don't want to come across as being Bias

I've got one and used it the Seaway to Seaway race last month , the shaft is oval and tapered and is a real work of art , the bottom half of the blade head does flex . The overall construction of the paddle is the best I have ever seen , absolutely flawless.
The race took us 5 hours so the paddle got a good test I started the race with the new XPR but after a couple of hours switched back to my quick blade because for most of the race we paddling into a headwind and my shoulders were starting to hurt and the quick blade had a slightly smaller head. My paddling partner loved it he owns a normal C4 paddle and really liked the new XPR.
The paddle shaft is incredibly light so you can really feel the extra weight of the Kevlar in the head but overall the total weight is still very light. I loved the shaft shape and feel , paddling wise it has a great catch and clean exit , I haven't surfed with it yet so can't comment there.
In summary :- Best built paddle I've seen , the grip fits beautifully in your hand , the shaft is fairly stiff I would prefer it with a bit more flex even though the head flexes, I think the head could also be a bit smaller, did I like more than my Quick blade ? not really but I not saying I don't like it , it's still a great paddle.
