The turbo spud looks like fun. The kind of board you could surf tradtitional and rip. Nice volume and width too for a small board. It is different to the other C4's and my current board. I have been looking for something like this and can't wait for a demo day.

I like the look of the 8'8", shame they couldn't get the weight down a little more though. I can't help but notice the volume on those sub9 boards seems around the wrong way? maybe

Newcastle this moment, although I will be back an forth over the next few months including the Port Stephens SUP Festival.

I am sure we have met before at Coffs and Carrington. I was going to try to make the Newcastle club surf comp, but the southerly conditions kept me up Seal Rocks.

Is that you moored up off horsehoe Shane?

You said you liked nobbys reef but that is a ridiculous place to park . Might see you out there one day, what do you ride? Not A laird is it?

That's me. Given an MSB 21 day rule I won't be there too much longer; just back to do a few repairs and I am going to sail off and search for some uncrowded North Coast waves.

I am just getting the hang of the Laird. It is a tippy board but carves. I was originally looking for a noserider, however Surftech superseded the 9'8" Takayama. With the decent width and volume the turbo spud should be the perfect short board to fill my surfing quiver? If there is one floating around the Port Stephens event I would appreciate a go!

I surf out the reef pretty often so I'll say hi if I see you. You were walking up as I was walking down on Friday.

I might have been coming back from Newcastle. Total bummer of a surf. Half the tools on shortboards thought they were in the final of Surfest and wanted to try their best to get in behind me and pull off an out of control slash. Then some old kook on a mal tried to show off to the crowd by seeing how close he could get to the SUP rider, suceeding in putting the first ding in my board.

After having surfed the place continuously for over 30 years I was unimpressed to say the least. If there are rumours getting around about a psycho SUP rider I am probably the man. Maybe though they might think twice before they pull the same crap on someone else?

And you wonder why after living up that way for the last 25 years I am now happy to cruise around on a boat minding my own business?

Oh, great thing about the reef is it has always been alternate surf craft friendly. I wasn't even half as pissed the time one of the Byrnes brothers gave me 13 stiches in the head from his ski out the reef years back as I was with the BS out Newcastle Friday!

sounds like things havn't changed in over 30yrs, Newy beach was always at boiling point and the cowrie hole. I remember a few of the dregs throwing rocks at surfers out at the cowrie. Dicko and the cliff were a much better option and of course Nobbys.
have a great trip mate

I know we are getting off topic here, but I have to admit that most of the more experienced guys have been good about myself on a SUP. Till the episode above I had never hassled on the thing and most would concede that I would have been catching more waves on a shortboard.

Surfest though seems to amplify the egos and wannabe popularity competition. In the previous week I met heaps of people escaping up the coast for a surf because the place was "out of control".

Back to the original topic. I can't wait to test the turbo spud at the Port Stephens SUP Festival. It looks like a real fun board and the atmosphere up the bay should be awesome!

I've seen eggs, but never rocks, guess that was the good old days na in all seriousness it is heaps better than what it used to be when i grew up.

As Shane said most people are ok now but with surfest in town the dick factor multiplies, a lot of the time it isn't local it's the hangers on with the pros. Having said that, there are still some nutters around that will snap in a second but it'sstill a good spot I can drive for 10 to 15 minutes and surf by myself so that solves it, people tend to be lazy and town will have 50 guys per peak but just out of town is pretty empty..

And Shane yeah those old longboarders are deadly, the younger ones are ok though

From today's demos at the Newcastle Club comp it looks like the Micro Sub is going to be a popular board for those who want to get radical. I was really suprised at how well it went as were others.

Nice find DJ! C4's inflatable technology is also utilized in the surf rescue market with both the USLA AND ASLSA giving them the stamp of approval.

Here are some nice shots from the weekends local sup club event

Trav had the new board out at training this morning and it got passed around a bit. Didn't get a go myself so I'll wait till Thursday, but by all accounts a great smooth board....

Took it up the creek this morning. It was ok and smooth. think its going to be a great board for the ocen. Will see tomorrow.
This board is two inches wider then Trav's race board so for the average punter(which is most of us) a GREAT board.
