Finally finished. Super stable and lots of fun.
Cheers to the guys at Dolphin for doing a such a great job on shaping and glassing my board.

Awesome !!

Can you post some more pics, looking down the board, especially the bottom line, shot from the tail, and nose.

A side on pic too, to get an idea of rocker and thickness, etc.

I went for a paddle with Hilts and Simon from Dolphin the other day on their new 14's. These guys are like kids in a lolly shop with their new boards. The background of the design is based on Molokai winning prone paddleboards and they have cleverly started from what they know works before they experiment.

Is there anything better than hanging out with stoked people? NO, there isn't! I look forward to watching these guys refine over time and move to other (longer!) designs. They love it.

After the paddle i went to the Mouth to play in the swell and practice the OC paddle techinique. Caught a small wave, thought i was styling until i treid to kick off, kooked it and the board headed towards the groin. Literaly CM's off the rocks before i got to it. No Damage.
Looking forward to Saturday with the longer paddle

So why weren't you wearing a leggie ???
They will turn, but you have to get right back on the tail, and you will see a ridiculous amount of board in front of you !!
You should also be able to trim it on long walls, by standing just behind the middle, and weight right over on the rail. Then run back for the reo, or the kick-out!

Very nice !

It gets better each time I look at it !!

I'd drop an extra box in, back at the tail, to ride it in really small surf.

Really nice board.

Did you weigh it?

Regarding kicking out of that wave you mentioned, it would have wanted to go straight, as you could well have had at least 1 foot behind the fin. ??? The Naish 14 doesn't really kick out either. You sort of trim it out hard..... Not a kick out !! Just too much board for a kick out. They pick off 1 footers with amazing ease though.

i'm with you in regards to the fin position. looks lot to far forward for a dw standup, but most likely what they do on the paddle boards. i have a feeling it might pearl. anyway, knowing that crew they will have a reason or sort will it out very quickly. very nice looking board with some beautiful lines. dolphin have been in the ocean caper for a very long time, so they have the pedigree.i know i'll be keeping an eye on what they are doing.
cheers

The board was fresh out of the bay, no deck grip either.
The wave was about waist high. trimed along really well (blue line). Felt like skip frye on one of his section connectors.
Then came the sucky close out section. Its no 8'9" short board and i didnt quite pull that little air off the back. board goes really well with no one on it as well (red line)she just wanted to have a little look at the rocks.

The fin im using in it at the moment is the 15" down winder

feels good and tracks nice in relation to the box. Full, fat swell, its nice and comfy and easy to handle. In small sucky waves the tail does drift a lot.
It comes in at around 10 kg plus fin and grip.
hopefully i can shake the virus for saturday and play some more!!! and keep away from the groin

2 potential reasons for the tail to drift... 1 - fin placement. 2 - these big boards get "la-la". Hawaiian term for controlled side slipping. The big boards like to do their own thing for small periods in time ! I find you can let the nose slip around... release the nose, but let it drift/slide down the face, to reduce the drive, to avoid getting too far infront of the pocket.

They are a blast in small surf though.

I completely understand you "blue line", hooking as you gather speed down the line.... they do race down the line once you have them wound up !!

They handle small sucky waves too !!
