I hope some one can help me, I am stuck, well sort of, I wonder if anyone knows if there is something or a quick & easy way to remove rail tape glue (I have plenty) after I removed the rail tape there is a lot of glue left along the whole rail (both rails), I do not want to spend all day slowly rubbing and peeling off bits of glue (also I have sore fingers and an injury:-(
thanks for any advice :-)
Turps
Ok so will the turps take the glue off with not to much work and also will it not damage the paint work ?:-)
Turps will dissolve the glue, should not worry the board, but don't get it on any stickers etc.
Try a very small bit first if worried.
Metho gentler, but not as effective.
Don't use acetone or thinners - that will dissolve the paint work
The most important points:
- Never use acetone. Ever. It will destroy your board, but most importantly your liver.
- Everything is in the time you leave the solvent in contact with the glue. My advice is to fold paper tissues so that they cover just the glue, wet them with your gentle solvent (Solvent F, Turps, Citrus, alcohol, ...) apply them and tape over it, and let in place for 10 minutes. Remove the tape, and the glue comes off as in a dream.
Citrus clean !great for wax removal as well
Eucalyptus oil, too.
Great all sounds pretty good I will try some things soon, actually I have two boards to do :-)
Thanks everyone ![]()
