Some great follow up waves today after the last few days of solid lines.

After a session on my longboard, I decided to set up down the other end of the point in the sun and with an extended zoom, shoot some of this unknown SUP'per who got some beauties.

When he paddled out, I have to admit my first thoughts were WTF and when he fell on his first two waves mid face, I was shaking my head but when he got his act together, he turned some heads in the heavily populated shortboard line-up.

If you know him, I'd love to know who he was !

Thanks mate,

A bit grainy once downloaded here and salt spray effected my end but it still tells a story huh ?

Certainly was a Lopez he was riding.....and after a faitful start to his session....I was sitting out the back and he lumbered past and after watching him free fall down the face with the board in tow and 5 shortboarders ducking for cover in the take off zone I just thought 'oh no, more terrible publicity' but he proved all knockers wrong.

It's no secret spot-but I'm not a local there, so I'm not going to publicise the location. REALLY fun wave when it's on and a South Coast classic on its day.

Great shots and riding.

Great shots surfanimals, we used to do a run down to that point whenever it was on back in the 80s - would be an awesome SUP wave.

I remember the locals as being a bit protective though!

I reckon the lefts on the other side would be fun on a SUP as well !

That's right.

You'll also note that I did not name it, others did not know the locality of it and those that do would respect it by not naming it. Photographs of waves does not corrupt a break my friend.

Funny how you only raise your head when there's an argument to be had.......so please, go one with your next comment.

Photos and names are over rated anyway. I don't think it will become inundated with SUPs now. My local point is featured on Real Surf pretty much every day and it is less crowded that what I remember that place to be like.

The rocks will put deter a lot of people, plus places like Wollongong seem to have a stronger 'local' vibe than others which is off putting as well.

every surf mag in existence has named and shamed it, i doubt there's a person on the east coast who hasn't heard of it or would not recognise it from a photo, if they haven't already surfed it.

hardly a secret spot

and then just to make sure everyone knows exactly where it is you post a photo of the boat sheds.

thats like posting photos of the goldy or uluwatu or pipe then complaining when someone says 'hey i know where that is'

Hey 'Doctor'....of what ?

Did you not read the posts prior to yours ?

All bar two were asking where it was and details so that blows your argument out of the water before you even get started.

Yes, people who surf it know it, people who have not would appreciate ithe images for what they were intended and that's that and by you adding to all the supposed mag statements prior, that just makes you a sheep and not a very smart doctor.

I could post images of a lot of places and name them all but why ? The idea is that this bloke got great waves, I got some good shots and wanted to share without naming and shaming.....is that OK or would you rather a post with just a straight black screen ?

I had a similar argument on Realsurf some years ago and stopped posting as a result, why share with arseholes. Really, I'm surprised SUP'pers could be of the same ilk, thought we were above that - obviously not....hope your pleased with your actions my friend.

I'm with doc. Seems a tad childish to post beautiful pictures of a 'heavily populated' break you want to keep secret on a public forum - then have the audacity to call the people who reply d---heads and suggest a moderator intervene. WTF

hahaha, just saw that. Guess you have to give starc1ty benefit of the doubt - welcome to the breeze.

Either way, I think you would need to be smoking mounds of pot to be paranoid about all the 'arsehole' sup forum readers, who are not of the same ilk, to turn up to Sardon Point tomorrow and mess it up for all the friendly locals there.

Keep the photos and stories coming surfanimals - just leave out the ones you want to keep top secret.

I agree with Doc, Sandon is one of the most populated breaks on the coast and I dont think that "naming" it on a forum is going to impact it at all. I think you are naive to think that it would not be named, either that or you knew someone would and you just wanted to stir the pot. Great photos, love seeing them but the days of that wave being secret were over years ago.

A couple of points here;

Firstly, I don't give a flying ---- about naming it.

I didn't name it as I was threatened last month for naming a spot that a contest was held at recently.

So, out of 'respect' I ceased naming it as I can understand some people get anxious about it.

I'm certainly not naive and not stirring any pot. Many more things in my life that that crap......ie, surfing this wave and the other 42 within 30km of it.

I agree, the whole 'secret spot' thing is rubbish, the essence of surfing is travel and imbreds that claim breaks have no clue as to the big picture.

BTW - welcome to the 'breeze STARC1TY, appreciate your last post too.

interesting read this one :) I loved the pics, and in all honesty with the pics of the sheds and all, I could not pick it. Probably because i have not surfed that much in that area.

Doctor, no harm I feel in calling somewhere a secret spot. What with 6,692,030,277 currently living on this planet, it is probably going to be secret from some of them..

There are great waves all along the east coast, and when there is a swell like that one, more than likely every 3rd point is firing. So if someone is going to take a trip on the strength of these epic shots..good luck to them I reckon.
