Pictures say a thousand words,I guess he is one unhappy camper for some reason.
Not into public brand bagging but, reading between the lines enough is enough for this guy.

over to DJ THE NAISH spokes person, will he stick up for his loved ones?

I'd say if you take a piece of foam covered in fiberglass into the surf there's a small chance[ not sure exactly what %] its going to break,
nothing worse when it happens though and I know how it feels out of my last 8 boards 3 have snapped with none of these being a Naish,
actually surfed a repaired board last weekend and had a great time on it,
hope something gets sorted out for you mate that your happy with.

So is it anger over the original snap ?
That the colour match of the repair looks too dark ?
That his own repairs have another crack appearing ?
or a professional repair has recracked ?
it needs a bit more text from Salatiala IMO

very true,it can happen anywhere anytime any size, but the first picture looks like a dodge repair job,so maybe the first picture is the story?

Evening, sorry would have got back sooner, been working...so i can get another board...

The first board was a mana 10' and split in waist high glassy conditions, less than a week old it was and cost me a years worth of morning teas - cheers Noel.

The second mana 9.5' - less than a year old and again in waist high glassy wonderfulness, creased trying a cross step out of a small pit - maybe not a good idea with my weight, but yeah pissed a bit...and not...would have thought one of the worlds leading brands would 'standup' to a bit more.

So if you think your designs could do with a wringer test and allow me to go for it - recklessly, I'm your guy.

thats bad luck. however, you may have to look at where you are putting the board in certain wave situations.

they are big boards with a lot of foam and area that can be driven very hard by your weight and the power of the wave.

touch wood, i surf dw boards that aren't designed to be surfed. so far i know when to back off or even jump off if i don't like the the way things are shaping up
cheers

Yes, bad luck.
Yes, big boards, and even without a rider, there is so much surface area for a breaking wave to force around, and to force a break.
Yes Lacey, it is also good to "know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em". So to speak.

It would be good to see a guy like Dave Kalama give instruction on what to do, and what not to do, for board preservation.

I reckon it's a bit weird that a board should fold like that in waist high surf unless it is a grunting 15 sec period swell breaking in a foot of water - no matter what you do to it. They must be trying to build em too light. If it's a big, high volume board it is obviously going to be ridden by a bigger person who will put more stress on it.

I've snapped 3 customs, but all in double overhead sucky stuff where you would expect it.

The only board I have ever "broken" was a custom 9' mal made by a well known reputable local shaper (read: it was well constructed). It happened in shoulder high mush on a highish tide with no power at all. Snapped the board clean in half. I think sometimes it just happens . The shaper did a great repair job on it at a very reasonable price and I think it surfed better afterwards, although it was a bit heavier.

I think it is a bit harsh to knock any brand when it comes to surf craft. Unless your just standing on it paddling in the river. Conditions, weight of rider and what the rider does on a particular wave can all combine to break any craft. I see more boards get damaged in 1' shore dump then I ever see get broken out the back. It is amazing the force of water has when you bring a board to a dead stop. Combine that with weight on top and there you go. A mate broke a perfectly good board of anther well known and good quality brand by doing just that.

Sometimes it just happens. No fault to the construction.

If you want to preserve your board ... hang it on your wall

The only way you should snap a board that thick is nose diving into sand any other way and i'd be pissed too at that wave size,
I'd hate to think of the amount of my old shortboards that are in landfill and most of them 2inch's thick were snapped in overhead waves and me generally doing something i should'nt have, rarely under waist high and they were half the thickness and i'd say half the cloth too.
Good luck..

I could not agree more with these two guys, it's got nothing to do with wave size.

Well, it's not all Naish Bash - I'm kinda pleased to report that Naish contacted me via facebook,

"Hi Salatiela, please put in a warranty claim with the dealer who sold you the board. Aloha"

Thanks for the effort Naish, but...the last experience where the reply was 'wear and tear' at a cost of $200 from Lennox to Sydney and back my wife and I are gunna do what we should have done in the first place - support the local shaper - Noel.

I have only ever snaped 4 boards in about 35 years, the last one was in 8'+,but the previous 3 were in 2'-3' on very shallow banks
