Heard it was a tough race yesterday...
Awesome concept with a boat taking competitors 15km 'straight into the wind' and dropping them off for a water start and race back to shore.... only problem was the wind didn't come and it ended up a hot hard flatwater grind the whole way.
Haven't seen any race times so I don't know how far in front the 14's were, but the race between the 12'6"s was very tight with photos showing only one wave separating Trevor & Marcus from Jacko coming into the beach finish. (Pic by Katja May from StandingRoomOnlyNZ facebook page).

Trev had entered the Juniors instead of Opens so took that crown & Jacko finished as runner-up in the Open 12'6" class to Marcus, an young (22) Kiwi I'm guessing we could hear more about in the future?
The wind that didn't happen yesterday turned up for the BOP races today instead overcast rainy and onshore (by the looks of the photos). But that didn't make a difference for the Sunshine Coast grom, who backed up yesterday's win by taking out the junior BOP today and giving himself a second National title. Well Done Trevor!
(Still waiting to see results for the open race filter through facebook)
