I came through here in a boat a few years ago and remember heading into a windswell about 1m high from a 3 day southerly standing up for miles along these banks. It's only occured to me now that this could be an all time downwinder on a SSE wind About 20k's all up from Kooringal to Tangalooma.

that would be an awesome paddle in the right conditions. love to see some pics if you do it. plenty of dugong and turtles out there as well. how is the drive from tangalooma to kooringal?

Might be best with a jetski or boat for backup. Also would need to sus out tides etc. Could be a good camping trip and there's the option to paddle Bulwer to Tangalooma on a northerly

between morton and north straddie is the gateway/highway into morton bay so tides to considered and the men in grey suits too. remember that girl that died from bull sharks attacking her at amity point. surfside morton is just alive with marine life. i would be leary of sup ping around those channels myself

cheers

You can drive almost all the way along the beach on the lower tide apart from a couple of short inland diversions so it's easily doable

Sounds Awesome! One to consider for sure! Moreton Bay is really sharky but all the people diving and snorkeling around the wrecks at Tangalooma never seem to have any problems. This time of year would be perfect with the wind favouring more to the South than the South East.

Good incentive not to fall off

I was sleeping in the back of my 4wd by night at Yellowpatch on the Northern tip of Moreton and surfing by myself during the days. This was 20 odd years ago. It felt really sharkey but I didn't have any problems. Really deep water off to the side of the break. Spent a few days and nights there and then headed off home
That evening back on the Sunshine coast I was watching Seven news and they had filmed a migrating school of 200 odd hammerheads from their helicopter as they passed Yellowpatch earlier that day.
Wooaaahhh!

I'm hearing you about sharks but if you're not paddling at dawn or dusk and have a few crew with a support vessel I highly doubt there would be any issues. I've dived around Tangalooma and never seen a shark. Being ontop of the water helps a bit too
