I talked to the event organizer today (John Smythe) and John said that there are a lot of people coming just for the stand-up.

He said that the guys from WA are bringing all the Starboards over and will be set up on the beach for anyone to demo.

I'm guessing the Naish boards will also be there for demoing.

I'm not sure about the GSI guys.

It would be great to see some C4 boards there also.

We now know that the famous Penetrator will also be there.

It's gunna be huge..

Here's a few more of my pics from Merimbula.

Yes Boylos I got my copy a couple of weeks ago but not got around to checking it out.. I was going to bring it to the Mambo and check it out then.

It's slightly smaller book than I imagined it to be but looks like it has heaps of good stuff inside.

Here's more info with a vid.. www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1594869421/ref=sib_dp_pt

There may also be some Paddle Surf Hawaii boards available!

We will have 10'6 , 10' and 9'6 in the old hand glassed Epoxy construction.

The addition of Paddle Surfing to an event like the MAMBO will make it 'the event' to be at this season! Should be a party and a good chance for eveyone to catch up and not only talk it up but get out and do it!!

Hey Lads-I'm (GSI) not going to be able to make it to the Mambo- unfourtunately it coincides with another event we're invoved in.
We've committed to sponsoring the "Girls go Surfing" days-a two week, 10 stop tour of Victoria-so I'll be heading in the oppostie direction.
Wish everone all the best though, I'm at Lakes Entrance at the moment and there's heaps of swell.
It was massive at Mallacoota yesterday on the backbeaches, so if the wind swings around to the offshore, you'll be in for some good waves.

All the best-hope your score!

PSH are great looking boards Macca, I'd definitely consider buying one, although that's out of the question now. I think they are pretty much the same price as the 11'4 Naish. My only gripe about them is the lack of a carry handle. Getting a big board too and from the water to the roof of your car can be a bit of a headache - especially if you are buggered from paddling for hours or there is a bit of wind about.

Probably best to do your own scouring on the web for where they are available. I've only ever seen one in Torquay - never ridden one but they do look sweet.

When going to buy a new board - whatever you end up getting - just weigh up all the specs/costs such as whether they come with deck pad, have a carrying device, come with a good carbon paddle, whether you may want to stick a sail in it sometime etc. But the best way is if you can just try out a few before you buy - that's the best way.

Mac if you can surf already I would be looking to get the 9 6" psh all arounder 29-3/8"x4-5/8... Blane says it would float you at 100 kg no problems!! I have the naish 9 6" 29-1/4x4-3/8 and I love it and it floats me well (103kgs) a bit of a handfull in real windy conditions, but Im getting on top of that I am keeping the naish but will also be getting a psh ripper at some stage, they are the closest sub to a surfboard I have seen yet ! Either that or see how you go (in surf-not flatwater) on the 9 6" naish as they rip in waves.

I've been paddling heaps the last few days here at Merimbula and the weather has been great.

I was paddling at the bar yesterday and a guy with long hair and a gath helmet paddled towards me..It was Dogman (Andrew)..We paddled for a while together against the outgoing current and we shook hands and talked.. He was on his 9'6" Naish and after chating he headed over and got some great waves on the left hander at the bar with the other surfers that were out.. He was ripping.

I was happy to ride the little right handers that left me back in the channel where I'd cruise back out... All good.

Today was the first day of the comp.. I walked down the beach to the comp area..clear blue sky and warm..and already half a dozen sup's out..I caught up with JB and Aaiden and another mate who I forgot his name.

Then I caught up with Scotty..He'd just driven over from SA and it was great to catch up with him.

Soon after Craig (another forum member) came over to shake my hand.. He'd just driven down from Sydney.. We listened to the comp rules..there's only one..No winging!..and they explained that sup's were first out and when the wind comes up for the kites (10 knots) the sup's move left into the windsurfing area..and when the wind picks up to 15 knots and the windsurfers come out the sup's move up to the bar where it's more shelted from the wind.... All good IMO.

The winds honking right now..15-20 gusty noreaster with gust at least 25 knots.

There's no sup's out right now..there's about 10 windsurfers and about 50 kites on the water.

It's 11am and Craig and I are planning a downwinder down to Pambula.. I'm thinink that in this wind it should only take an hour max to do the 5 klms.

More soon..Gotta paddle..

Hey Mac, CAsso and I are heading down to MAMBO first thing and will arrive around midday.
Look out for the STANDUP SCHOOL demo van.

We have a french couple with us - Fred and Aurilie who are TANDEM pro's - hopefully they will put on a show for us! They have a website in France - nalu-surf.com

I Don't have a lot of big boards however as we need the 11'+ at our SUP school this weekend.
Both Naish and Starboard are there so there will be PLENTY of boards to try in bigger sizes.

For DEMO at MAMBO, I have-

PSH 10'6 AR
PSH 10'AR
PSH 9'6 AR
OXBOW 11'
OXBOW 10'6
OXBOW 10'
OXBOW 9'6

I am getting PSH 11' AR's in mid December plus the new 'wides' in 9'6 and 10'6.

See you at the 'bar' most of the day and the other one most of the night!!

It's 9am and I'm a bit slow to get out there.. I was waiting for the barbie to fire up and I just scoffed down a huge bacon/egg and sausage burger while watching about 12 sup's carving it up in glassy conditions.

Matt from Torquay was looking real good IMO and I think most would agree.

I'm just about to get my 11'4" and get out there.. It's still pretty glassy and the waves are pretty good.

Yesterday Craig and I did the 'Hellmen' thing and paddled a mega downwinder from Merimbula down to Pambula river mouth.. The swell was huge.. It was like the perfect storm movie as we got closer to Pambula with the odd huge swell that seemed the size of a house.

We made it..It too a little over an hour because there were lots of falls..and some great runners.. Coming into the river mouth we had a strong outgoing tide and a current that was hard to paddle against.. I got a nice wave that brought me almost all the way in but I still had to paddle hard to stay on it.. It was great..and something I'm never forget.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared out there so far from the shore..20-25 knot winds and a huge swell running.. Nothing like I have in the bay back home.

Later in the day Craig and I had a great paddle from the bar out to the point and back in glassy conditions.. A good way to get out confidence back after falling so much doing the down winder.

Anyway....I'm out there.

DJ how about some shots of the guys on the sup riping it up , sounds fun. Have you tried one of the smaller boards in the surf ,looks like there is some great demo gear there. If you get the chance can you do a comparision on the 9-6 PSH & Oxbow. or let the Dogman loose on them and see what he has to say , I can't believe he broke his 9-6" must have been one HELL of an almighty hiding.

Danny there's heaps of people still turning up..Casso just got here..I see the Penetrator here on AA's car and just had a chat with Scotty Macurcher (spelling) and all the Starboard guys.

We mucked around on the waves for a while then Craig and I did another big paddle out to the point..and headed for a fishing boat in the distance that kept moving.

We then paddled back along the clifs where we met up with Scotty Mc testing out his new board that he made himself..and I had a go of his nice wooden paddle.

The cold change has just hit (1.30pm) and cooled things down..Casso just called and said they've headed down to Pambula looking for some waves protected from the south wind.

I've gotta pick Helke up from the local airport soon so it's all happening..

I'll post some pics soon.

Today I went down to check out the surf at 6am and Casso was carrying the Pene down to the water for a paddle..I said hang on mate I'll grab my board and join you..I woke up Helke and rang Craig and within half an hout we were all out paddling and having turns on the penetrator...Wow...very nice board.

We paddled from 630 till 930.

I just got back from a great session in the waves with all the guys.
