Does anyone know if there are any surf shops around the West Coast that will let you demo the new Mctavish 9'6?? or even in Melbourne?? I am looking at getting one.

The only place I have seen them is at Quiksilver Torquay, and For Sale, not Demo....

Bite the Bullet and Buy it ! I'm sure you could demo direct in Byron Bay !!

Or keep your fingers crossed that someone down here has one, and will let you demo....

Hey there JB, we've got a 9'0" demo, but not a 9'6".
I've commandeered it for Easter, but you're welcome to try it anytime.
In a word....it rips! Our store is in Melbourne.

Cheers

Hey RPS - What is the balance situation with your 9' when you pick it up by the handle, are they still super tail heavy or have they been sorted? I fancy a 9' but not until they sort the balance out.

I've not seen one that's balance right yet.. It's not such a big deal IMO.. Putting a couple of leash plugs in and using your paddle or using a handle/strap like Dean uses on his Airwave boards now would be an easy fix.

Talk to Murf in O'Grove
I know he had some MacSups recently and would probably be able to lay his hands on one for a demo.

Hi DJ - I agree - personnally I reckon all boards should have plugs for handles. It's not a big deal, but it's not a cheap board and you would expect them to be able to put the holes in the right place by now - what's the warranty score if we go boring our own holes all over the deck?

Hi the 9'6" will hold probably up to 105 kgs quite well I would have thought? I used one last winter/spring in a full steamer p*ss wet thru, i'm 95kgs and it had plenty of float left.

I spoke to a bloke on a 9'0" only last week who told me he was 94 kgs (94 kgs exactly lol) and he seemed to be floating just fine and I can vouch he was catching heaps of waves.

Jackson Close that was ripping on the 9'6 at Noosa.

I agree the handle is way out position, maybe it was done before grip and fins were added?

The 9'6 easily floated me at 110k so float shouldnt be an issue.

I'm pretty sure Strapper have them in torquay and they have a demo I think its a 9'6

Phill.

Hey Lacey,

Thanks for the correction, it definitely looked chunky for a 9er but whatever it was he was rippin!

no issue with the man rippin. it probably is the beef-est 9' around.would have to be considered if a person on the heavier or more muscular side of the range was looking for shorter sup
