How far do you have to go? I carry mine 800m to the beach and it's not too hard.

I've got one of these

www.bettersurfthansorry.com/stand-up-paddleboard-carriers-s/121.htm

and it works ok. The straps around the board slip a bit when they're wet and it can get sand stuck between the strap and the board if you're not careful.

I'm going to do the leash plugs in the deck thing when I get brave enough to drill holes in my board. With a shoulder strap it will be perfect.

www.standuppaddlesurf.net/2007/11/06/stand-up-paddle-board-carrying-strap-for-c4-waterman-stand-up-paddle-boards/

I've also carried the board on my shoulder the whole distance. It's not too hard but it could get stale doing it every day.

If there's two of you then you can carry the two boards together with the end of one board under each arm. Me and the missus just went down to the beach and this was easy. She's not a strong person and she found it easy.

I like the Mule carriers. they break down into a package about the size of two books, and can accommodate a big SUP board if you order the SUP extended package. I've towed them behind my motorcycle, behind a bicycle, and used it like a wheelbarrow (with a board in place) to schlep coolers, food, water, etc. for parties and events. Bulletproof, simple and cheap.

I would have kept using it with my motorcycle, but I started thinking about what would happen to my board if it failed, so I built this:http://www.kenalu.com/2008/11/30/sup-motorcycle-trailer/ If a wheel fails with this thing the boards don't get harmed

Forgot to mention, big benefit to the mule, you can roll your boards (stack quite a few if you like) right to the water's edge, then take it back apart (no tools) stuff it all back in the bag and bury it in the sand. Just don't forget where you buried it. I had to dig up half of Kanaha to find mine one--I forgot I had walked down a different path than my usual.

I guess horses for courses type thing, but if you rocked up with one of these things at a local surf break and expected to get waves or (respect) it aint gunna happin.

We are always reading about sups wanting respect, and all the surfers give us stink eye & whatever, but rocking up to a break with 20 guys out and paddeling out after wheeling your stead to the waters edge is the first way to make sup look and be uncool.

If your wheeling it to a lake or your an old lady, or at an uncrowded surf break go for it.

Hey Mikesup,

We have a couple of different home made trolleys. See pic of the first one which is an 'add-on' to a standard Bunnings trolley ($29.99). We can whack two boards on this and take them anywhere with very little effort. Basically cut the handle & the baseplate off the trolley & add an extension to suit the length of boards you want to carry. Four upright posts keep the boards in place & it has rubber tube padding where necessary (possibly more expensive than the trolley???). You would need to have basic welding skills for this one.

We discovered however that this one is too long to fit in the landcruiser so we have another version: Also a cut down trolley, for this one we pretty much just cut the baseplate off, and shortened the handle. Add two cross bars of timber covered in old carpet a couple of tiedown straps and you then just pull it along by the board itself (can carry two boards if you strap them together at the front). Only need the angle grinder and a drill for this one! Works a bit like the little wheel system in one of the earlier photos on this forum post.

Both of them are soooo ugly that no one would ever steal them!!

Alternatively (if the track is very rough or very steep) I can carry my 11'4" board about 200-300m if I put it on my head. Although I often need a little rest on the beach after a session and by the time I feel 'rested', husband has already made two trips to the car hee hee hee !!!!!

Thats tuff talk - I have had no problems getting waves at my local break - I wheel my Quiver Kaddy down with 3 boards two kids and beach bags.

Its call waiting your turn in the line up and knowing the rules of surfing.

I wouldn't mind one of those quiver kaddy do dads for towing behind my bike but 400 bucks is a bit steep

Trying again to load the photo of our home built trolley made from a bunnings upright trolley with the handle & base plate cut off. Loaded up for a fishing trip.
